Hi all, well anyone thats on these forums at all knows I just dropped a new engine in my buggy. Its breaking in nicely. Now I am looking to upgrade the clutch as I am pretty sure I damaged the original clutch that was already almost two gallons old when I replaced the engine. I bought the HPI stock clutch upgrade kit (http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/87151.html) but I dont know about that kit. One of the hobby shops that I go to recommended it to me as a good stock replacement clutch kit. I also bought Mugen .09 springs. thats a little softer than whats in the Matrix RTR stock. I ALSO have my finger on the trigger for the red anodized aluminum clutch shoes and 1.1 springs from CEN. I guess I dont know what all of this clutch upgrading will do for me. I feel like my clutch is worn. If I am going to replace I might as well upgrade right? Can anyone tell me if the aluminum clutch shoes and stiffer springs are going to make my buggy launch better and be quicker? Thats kinda what I want. What about the HPI shoes and Mugen springs? What will that combo do for me. What have you guys done to your clutch settups out there. I mainly run on my local track and its pretty flat with a couple of small jumps and a couple of big jumps. 3 tight corners and one big sweeper (that I love) and the straights are maybe 100-120 feet long. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!!!

Well going with stiffer springs and aluminum clutch shoes will definately get you better hook up. That set up will engage later in the powerband causing it to be a bit snappy with your throttle and later engagment. With the later engage, the engine will be in it's higher powerband which gives the better hook up. This may be what your after I dont know, I would just try stock springs with the aluminum shoes and keep the thicker ones on hand just in case that isn't what you want. You can also go with the adjustable aluminum clutch shoes by Nova RC, they can be weighted to your preferance to help delay their engagment. I hope this helps you out. Nova shoes are on Ebay for about 20 bucks.
