My son has a Genesis nx 76 that runs long enough to burn about a quarter of a tank of gas then dies. After that it wont start at all. I have read alot of the posts about hard starting, but thought I would post and see if someone could point us in the right direction. Thanks for any help.

Do you know what temp the engine reaches before it dies? How old is th engine?? How old is the fuel? What plug you using? Have you done the OFNA Checkvalve mod?
These are important questions meant to help diagnose the problem..

The engine is 3yrs old, fuel about a year, no he hasn't done the check valve mod and not sure what type of plug. My son is away from home about 8 months a year so the truck doesn't get much use.

Ok with that engine being that old but not much running how many gallons thru it and what temp does it get to before it stalls. You will need to do the mod too to help it run consistantly. But for now the temp is more important.

Probably about a gallon of fuel is all he has run through it, and as far as the temp we dont have a gauge? so we dont really know? We are both rookies at this so thanks for the help.

Ok then with only a gallon of fuel thru it, the engine should still be in good shape.. well I would have to say do the OFNA Checkvalve mod first then retune(lean both high and low speed needles) and be sure you are running the OS #8 plug or equivelent. This should help tremedously!!
Let us know how it works outs or feel free to ask ANY questions you need to, to get her running well..

This sounds like it could be solved using a check-valve on the pressure line. Other then that when a motor runs good until it gets up to operating temp ussually can indicate a loss of compression. contact our [email protected] for more information on how to get your engine tuned properly.... and you will want to invest the money into a temp gun to protect your next motor from excessive heat.

We did the check-valve mod, put a OS #8 plug in and retuned the screws today and it ran great-- started right up, no stalling and went through a full tank of gas with no problems
Thanks for all of your help!

Whats the checkvalve mod..? Mine start and run no bother at all.Is it like a stone filter inline with the pressure line similar to the Hong Nor ones...?

The OFNA Checkvalve mod is you put the the OFNA Primer/filter between the Exhaust pressure nipple and the pressure inlet on the tank with the flow towards the tank, so now it the valve is no longer and primer pump but a checkvalve that stabilzes the pressure in the tank to solve the half tank leaning/stalling issue these larger tanks experience. I tested maybe a dozen different checkvalves, when I was just about to give up I ran across the OFNA unit and tested it for about a month before I posted the results. It is a proven solution to a very common problem. I will see if I can dig up the thread that discusses this issue in detail so you can read it in its entirety.
In Fact it is so proven that even CEN sometimes recommends this mod!!
