ok im looking to get a new rc i want to get a monster truck and was looking at the gst 7.7 and the hpi savage XL 5.9 im having a hard time deciding wich one to get they both seem nice but i would like someone with more knowlege on rc's i only been in it for 1month now and dont know alot i have a 1/10 truggy and now want a 1/8 monster truck and these are my two favorites and just dont know how to tell wich is the better choice any help would be great thank you for your time....
PS.i noticed the gst7.7 has 5.0hp at 23,000rpm and the savage XL 5.9 has 3.75hp at 39,000rpm me being a noob dont know wich one is faster if you guys could let me know that would be great i looked at youtube vids of both trucks and for some reason it seemed like the hpi savage XL 5.9 was faster but this dont make sense to me as it has a smaller motor if someone could set me in the right direction that would be great please dont just say cen is the best because im in a cen forum and you want to be loyal or support cen because thats what you have i really just want honest opinions please ty for your time and help.........

i would still say get the GST . i have one and it hauls ass.. i doubt Savage XL is faster because all the monster truck does about the same speed, but bid difference in performance and torque. Savage will never have the torque GST has and the track performance.
Saveage is a nice bashing truck but a pig on thet track..

I agree with Crazy. I will also add that I have owned a Savage 21 and own a GST now as well as other MT's, basicly the previous savage was/is better then this new one in my eyes mainly because of the "wheel extensions" on it. They seem to be its weakest link.
Also keep in mind that speed isn't necessarily a good thing. Because if your just getting into this it will be harder for you to control a 16lb truck going 40 than a 16lb truck going 20. Get my point? I'm not saying don't get the GST or the Savage because its fast. I'm saying it takes more attention and caution to drive a large truck at that speed.
I love my GST and always will. I have yet to break a part on it. And for all you people that say "oh thats because you don't bash hard enough" that is simply untrue. This IS the most durable truck/car/truggy/heli/whatever I have owned.
Get what you like but I can most deffenitly say you will have more fun/break less parts with the GST.
Hope this helped,
Aaron

i have one more ?.... are the gst7.7's really bad on gas or is it just a rumor. i heard they are gas hogs compared to savage XL5.9's if so how bad are they on gas and what run time do you get on the 220cc gas tank thats a huge tank i would think you can run awhile on a 220cc tank thanks for any info....

Well I'm still on my first gallon. Run times are about 5-8+ min on a tank depending on your tune.. However I seem to be getting more.. I have no idea why but it seems like they are 10-15min.. As for the over all gas consumption, before I got my GST I added up what CEN said the runtimes were and I think I got something like 82min per gallon. Like I said I have been on this gallon since I got it. And thats been like 2-3 months.

My GST can kill a tank fast when I'm running hard and open the whole time. But just playing around not trying to max out the truck jumping her I think I've got about 12 mins with one tank. Most of the time I try to run in a area that's wide open so I can hammer on gas and drift the truck in cinders and baseball dimonds (the little leage might be mad at me right now) but it's worth the price in gas...I'm also running 30% and the truck is taking it well. In the next few weeks as parts start to come in I'm going to do the nemesis front drive shaft, maybe even try to get the nem front/rear diffs to help put up with the hell ride I put my truck through.
Only problem I had with my truck was when I rebuilt her I forgot to go over one screw...the one for the break lever and it fell out, besides that this truck is a killer!

I say go for the GST. I have a buddy with the savage, and it's handling is like a pig. I mean, it's fun and all, but handling wise, it isn't too good.
The GST/nemesis, though, and very good handling. If getting second in Monster truck and the Nats with a stock Nemesis isn't impressive, then I don't know what is. If you're just bashing though, either will be fine. You should also look at the type of radio to get with the truck. The Nemesis has the Airtronics MX-3 FM, and the Savage has a cheaper, HPI controller. The Airtronics controller has all of the essencial features, and plenty of extra. The GST has the Skyion DSX radio, and it's still a great RTR radio with plenty of features.
CEN's customer service is also second to none..best one out there. They can help you with any problem you have, and new upgrades and fixes are being designed and made all the time.
Just look at this

Good luck with the truck. Everyone runs 20% that I've seen. I'm one for more power now/ who cares about engine life so I run 30%.
This truck is a handfull. My only complaint is that my servo saver keeps getting lose. When my ebay binge makes it to my house I'm going to use white plumbers tape on the threads instead of thread lock. Just go over all the screws to make sure there tight, all of mine where, and check the mesh for your gears, mine was a hair off but my dump @$$ ran a few tanks that way with no damage, those steel gears rock.
3rd gear is a pain in the butt to set, I thought I was there but I think I need to do a 1/16 or more of a turn and I think I"ll be set, but with only 2 speeds working from the start the truck still MOVES!!
It's sad but just thinking of my truck I'm smileing right now

For me, this was the best nitro rc I've owned, but I just got back in after years of starting a family. Now I have a 4 y/o little girl that begs to drive my truck, was thinking of turning down all the settings on the remote and letting her try...It's hard to say no to a cute little face like hers.
This part is for cen...
My little girl is promoteing your trucks to her little friends and there parents...man thats funny seeing her eyes light up when she's talking about the truck.
