I've looked though just about every single page in this forum, but I still need clarification about what parts are needed to convert my SH .28 into roto start. Every thread I see seems to have different recomendations on doing this. So if someone could post a link or two for me, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

I just did this and as soon as I go out to the shop, I will give you all the part numbers and where to get them.

Ok .. XTM 247 backplate #14827 / Ofna roto backplate 50011 When you pull the pullstart, watch for the ball point pen type spring. It goes back in the shaft when you do the conversion. You pull the pull start, the SH backplate. Then the xtm plate goes on, put the spring in the shaft and then the roto plate. I am PM'g a source for the parts .. they are fast on shp'g. Let me know if a prob. If you don't have a roto start, but have a cordless drill, just make or buy the start shaft .. save ya a few bux. Keep the drill clutch setting on the low side.

I did that conversion with those exact parts. My .02 is that with all the new pieces maybe some high temp sealant between the engine and the plate and thenplate to the roto to avoid any air leaks...
Othwise... worked great!

Those instructions....were they for the .28 engine? I left the SH backplate on and bolted the rotostart directly to it. The only minor problem is that I'll have to grind the lower area of the exhaust manifold flat just a bit. Although I havent fired it up yet, it I can tell this is turning the engine over just fine.....
