Hi Guys..I was given a GST 7.7 as a thank you present for helping a mate out. Its my first Nitro truck and its been a long time since i had a real RC car..my last one was a Tamiya Bruiser many many years ago (yes i still regret selling it)
I have put the Ofna Check valve on it, a Futaba failsafe, Venom Hump receiver battery and an in-line fuel filter. I am not going to race it..its just for a bit of fun running around.
I have a couple of questions..
I used the heat cycle method to run it in with 20% nitro and an OS8 plug. So far its had around 3 liters of fuel through it.
During the run in I found I had to turn the trim up to around the 20 mark to get it to start, then back it down to about 14-16 where it would sit and idle. I have been turning up the idle screw 1/4 of a turn running it for a bit, backing off the trim and slowly i can get the trim back now to around 8 where it will idle ok. So far I have turned the idle up around 1 1/4 turns..Just wondering if I should keep doing that until the trim is around 0 or is there a better way to do this.
I have also noticed that the servo's (Throttle and Steering) seem to twitch quite a bit. If the car is just sitting there turned on and the transmitter is on I can see them twitching?? Is this common? I live out on 5 acres of land and neighbours are quite a way away..so cant imagine any interference.
What Shock Oils would you recommend?
What Diff oils would you recommend (i dont want to put the center diff lock in)?
Can i run 30% nitro? Do i need a different glow plug or any other mods if I do this.
These are the Upgrades I am planning to do..thanks to this forum.
GS094 X 1PC=Brake Drive Cup For the tranny
GS219 X 1PC=Front Propeller
GS093 X 1PC=drivecup
GSS10 X 4PC=Heavy Duty CVS
GSS07 X 2PC=Aluminum Transmission
HiTec Servo Upgrade for the steering.
I will also get a few extra suspension arms and probably a roll cage for it as well at some stage. Would that be all I need?
Sorry for all the questions..just a newbie to Nitro trucks and the GST but having a ball with it..sounds great and sure runs well
! Hey i even enjoyed running it in and cant wait till i really get the chance to see how it goes.
