I am having engine troubles. It is hard to start and quits just as I get the body on. Or is quits when I hit the gas. When it is running it shows blue smoke so I guess it is too rich.
The trouble is I can't find needle settings docs. The engine in my Matrix is a .28 with a slide carb. The settings doc for the .28 on the CEN site clearly says rotary carb.
I tried to settings today even though I was worried I might be blowing up my engine. (The main needle was 1 whole turn different from the setting it came with).
It started better until it got hot. Getting it to idle was hit and miss. I always got blue smoke. When it was hot, I had to turn off the radio and open the throttle 1/4. This was a lot less frustrating than before when it would not run at all. Sometimes it made a funny burbling noise when I got on the gas.
What the heck is going on? Is this normal?
Are the settings for the slide carb the same as the settings for the rotary carb?
I don't have a temp gauge. Is that the secret to tuning?
