I figured this would be the place to post this, since not many people are running these shocks on Savages.
I have a set of four GST shocks on my Savage, and the truck handles GREAT with them. I love it. But, when I abuse it, the caps pop off. Is there something I did wrong when I filled the shocks with 35wt oil, and left the stock springs with it? I know stock Savage shocks don't like any viscosity above 30wt, and the caps blow off on big jumps.
Was I not suppoed to COMPLETELY fill the shock? Are these emulsion style shocks, which I'm guessing they are now, since they don't have a bladder. Should I just top off the shock body itself, and leave the reservoir empty? fill the reservoir halfway up?
Thanks in advance

Hmm, it's possible that the shocks pops because the lenght of clearence is higher than the shocks. I had this problem on my gst. I set up the shocks position for a clearance higher than shocks lenght, and I never pops again.
It's my issue, perhaps help ?

Thanks Dogman and TPRZ. I think the issue is that I filled the reservoir completely, judging from what you guys said. the truck's skidplates hit before the shocks bottom out, and it's still got the white rubber limiters on the shocks too.
I'll fill 'em back up and leave a little room in the reservoir.

To fill a shcok reservoir:
_ first you fill the main shock with the piston 1cm out
_ you screw the shock reservoir.
_ unscrew the reservoir cap and you have to fill the reservoir under the screw thread. (1cm)
_screw the cap and it's done
