I just recieved my 7.7 in a trade and looks hardly used, motor is real tight. But it does'nt shift at all. From a dead git its alittle sluggish and them slowly starts to come on like freight train. My thought is that its stuck in second gear. Would the adjustments have anything to do with this? The motor is running on the rich side and is definatly geting a little to hot, which tells me its laboring to get the truck moving. If anyone can help giving the stock shift engagement settings I would really be thankfull.

Sounds like something is locked-up. Now would be good time to tear her down and real intimate with her. You should do that anyway just to be sure the previous owner didn't hack anything up you can't see..
Good luck and let us know what you find or if you have any questions..

Hey thanks dogman. Igot this thing torn down, the scews on the second gear clutch, the ones on an angle those were out about 5 turns. so I tightened them up and backed them both out 3 turns. What are the other two screws for? Also, I tightend the thirdgear screws down and backed them out seven turns. I've adjusted the screws that are in there on an angle, but what are the ons that are strait in threr for? I've ordered a manual and both second and third gear clutch assemblys. Maybee this will be a huge help.

Nice, good job, think you understand the truck any better??
The set screws in the center put tension on the little balls that run on the shaft flats, that is supposed to ehlp take the slop out of the connection between the shoes and shaft. You would adjust those so they are snug but dont push the shoes away from the shaft.
Keep us informed!!

All those who say its junk really dont understand it or Mechanics in general. And there thosethat just say it because others do and dont really know or have never owned one.
But, its all good I still love mine and thats all that counts!!
