or CEN sent 2 left or right handside ones, rather than a pair - if u catch my drift...

regardless, both myself and Rolland (i think) dont have the pins fitted and have had no problems.

the pin goes straight through the centre of the diff though..

I will give it a try but think it would privide some kind of support to the diff centre so that it does not rotate off centre.

Cheers

RE: CEN MT2 issues.

I have buggy shafts and diff cups on mine and no center pin and it works fine. At first i suspected that there would be some droop or uneven wear but there never was.

Will the FF232's fit on my ST2? as i've broke the front left 3 times now and my LHS has to keep ordering the same crappy pieces in, wouldn't mind a beefed up set as i'm no good at doing the mods myself!!!

go to B&Qs mate, plumbing section, 10mm olives are what u want. roughly sand the cups where the olives are going to go, and superglue them on.

easy.

The FF232's will fit on the ST2 and are a beefed up part over the stock drive cups. Have your local hobby shop order these up for you and your woes will go away.

Or you can do the drive cup mod that poor judgement suggested. That seems to work out quite well for everone that has tried it out.

RE: CEN MT2 issues.

I have put the new diff cups in.... and they are heaps bigger...

Also put a pin through them which I had laying around.. just cut it to size...

The diff cups do push the dogbones out a bit further probably 3mm... which doesn't sound like allot but I have to make the hubs widder to fit....

Given the MT a real bashing and its holding up aswell if with the diffcup mod... also my diff cup mod caused resitance on the drive train and it rubbed a bit... so the car is rolling allot better now too... didn't release it until I removed the mod...

Anyway if you have a diff cup problem buy these new ones.. they are mad....

Cheers

As well as breaking diff cups does anybody else have a problem with eating spur gears??? Ive tried lots of different ways of setting the mesh and also had other people them but it still doesnt make any difference. I saw on another forum that CEN was supposedly making metal spur gears for the FF in the near future but havnt heard anything still. does anybody know if this is true????

For the spurs, if you can't get them to mesh right, check that your motor mount screws are tight. Also make sure the spurs can't wobble on the shaft. And take a looksee at your pinions. Sometimes the pinions wear real sharp and wreck the spurs.

I ended up changing out to genesis spurs and steel pinions. Works fine.

I think the FF steel spurs are supposed to be out right away. I made a post on customrccars forum asking them when they will have steel spurs in. I'll let you guys know what they say. The cen ones look a lot lighter than the genesis ones too.

Have replaced spurs, pinions and one way bearing, strengthened the motor mounts there is no play it just seems to be the weak point on mine.

I have read about MT2s having chassis flex, Could this be causing the gears to strip???

CEN can you confirm if there are to be metal spurs and if so how long do we have to wait, part No.s etc.

Hi guys.
Yes the new spur gears are in stock. The part number is FF102 and FF103. You can have your local CEN Racing rep order these gears up for you. In Europe we are just waiting for the distributors to make there orders and they will ship. Should be to you guys within the next few weeks.

great stuff, these are loads lighter than the genesis gears i have fitted, and lower ratio, there are some big sand dunes near me just asking for it!

CEN - are the stock alloy pinions ok to use with these new steel gears?

Typical I just orderd 2 sets of spares!!!! will have to put in an order for the new ones now as well.

Has anybody figured out what to do with stripped spur gears??? Im open to any suggestions. there must be some use for them somewhere surely.

I have a PILE of stripped spurs. I'll sell them to you cheap so you can sell them on e-bay. 10 bucks :D

....could I interest you in my siezed bearing & broken axle collection??? JK

Cen please confirm: Are there ever going to be steel pinions for the magnum, talon, MT2? Are the stock alloy pinions good to go?

dustin7837 04-27-2006 08:26 PM

RE: CEN MT2 issues.

There are steel pinions, they are the silver ones rahter than the colored ones, I have been running them with my genesis spurs and have had no problems. The steel spurs ATE my alloy pinions, so I ordered the steel ones.

Yeah but with the MT2 gear ratio?

I have the steel ATX pinions! With 1:8 wheels the gearing is too tall.

RE: CEN MT2 issues.

good point. Just leave your gearing as is and put in an OS .30 lol

RE: CEN MT2 issues.

We do have steel pinions available too. The part numbers are as follows. G84307-04 Steel Clutch T15-18 or G84308-04 Clutch T14-17.

This will gear your truck up over the stock pinions. The stock pinions will work fine as well but if you wanted to gear up and make your truck faster and have steel gears over the aluminum gears than this is the way to go.

Also i bought it used the guy who had it before me had low batt. in his TX and the truck ran away on him and it flipped upside down and spun the spur gear!

Thanks in advance!!!!
