roto start question

Hey guys!!!!!!\\

Just installed my roto start and just wanted to make sure it is correct???

one way bearing should be like the photo in intructions big side of bearing in towards engine????? narrow towards the oustside by the plate???
Big gear wider side out ,narrow side towards motor right?????

I just wanted to make sure before I put it all back together???

Also red locktite for the 4 engine screws......correct?

Hey amercnchopz34,

Ok if I'm reading you correctly;-

1-way bearing - correct.
Big gear - wrong, according to the instructions that came with mine the wider shoulder goes to the motor!
Small gear, obviously wider side away from the motor.

Not sure what what grade your Red Loctite is, but I would use (nut lock) 243 it is light blue in color, or (screw lock) 222 it is pink/purple in color.
If unsure about your particular application, you can click this link to the [link=http://www.loctite.com/int_henkel/loctite_us/index.cfm?&pageid=20&layout=2]Loctite Application Guide[/link]
Remember Loctite can be your friend, but if you use too much or the wrong grade for the application it will become your enemy!

Edit ;- You may have to remove a small portion of the ring on your exhaust header (where the 2 springs clip into) to allow the exhaust to fit correctly, without fowling on the new rotostart assembly. This is a common mod needed to allow correct assembly.

One more thing about the loctite. I found that using red loctite is really not necessary. I only use blue on my Nemesis and never had anything come loose. Doing so makes rebuild time so much easier as well.

Only use red loctite if you pretty much never want get it apart again

I am almost through the gallon before adding the rotostart and have noticed that it is still kind of hard to pull at times. The Rotostart will not be able to turn the engine I don't think. Is yours like this on the GST?

It'll turn it over. The handheld starter and the rotostart assembly on the truck are both geared down to provide enough torque to crank that beast over. My pullstarter still gave my hands blisters when I installed the rotostart.
