I just can't figure this on out. The fuse is about 48" long from spinner back plate to rudder post at the stab.

It is kind of "cute" in my opinion. First I was thinking of MK Champion but then I remember they had only plastic (nylon) fuselage so that do not fit your epoxy fuselage. Then I was thinking of some Bridi model but I'm unable to see any "Dirty Birdy" or similar typefrom Bridi that fit your plane appearance. I checked also trentonrcflyers classic pattern images but did not see any plane that had a fuselage like your plane. Little difficult to identify. Seems like 1970th design. Maybe it could be found in some ad in Model Airplane News or similar magazine if one browse through 1970-1980.

Hi BEM i know its not a Champion i had two of them, the closest thing its gona come near if the fire pit out back if i can't find any info on this thing.
Or just throw a set of Tipo wings and stab on it without the anhedral powered by a ys 61 and let it rip.

I was thinking it was a Sky Knight. But I looked up the thread and the canopy is totally different. This one is a real puzzle.

I believe it to be a late replica of an earlyish classic pattern model from the late sixties. The older the model, the further forward the canopy and the more rake in the rudder hinge line. Something from the era just slightly before the Cutlass or the Sweetater.

The front end has a lot of an F-86 style to it. Also it appears that the isn't a diamond airfoil. I would have to agree about the time frame though.

The only clue i have on this plane is that the wing is a double tapered with an aprox WS 66" and a 3-1/2" wide rudder.

Free Bird, i wish it was a Sky Knight! Should have bought one in my younger years, I still remember the adds in RCM. They were only about a hundred and twenty dollars back then. Go figure,i spend a lot more than that on one of my giant scale servos

Reminds me of the Hawk 460 from World Engines. The Hawk 460 had a foam fuselage though.

Would anyone of you guys have details like root,tip and shape of wing and stabs for a Phoenix 1. I could cut a set of cores, make them fixed gear.
What do you think? Good or bad idea?

I just bought a World Engines Hawk 460 kit. It has a fiberglass fuselage with foam wing and stab cores. The fin isn't fiberglass.

I would keep searching for the models true identity and build it to the original specifications. It's a really cool looking design.

They must have changed the kit? Maybe yours is a later production?
A friend had one, and it had a foam fuselage....covered it w/ Solarfilm.
I recall it was a pretty decent flying airplane...he had an O.S. MAX-H .40 in it. (EK Logictrol Champion radio...good memories from the mid 70's )

The glass version could be a later production but I really don't know. The kit I found doesn't include the wood or hardware. It's basically just a short kit.

There were two of them available from different sellers. Pretty rare item, what are the odds?

Phil, I don't think you have a Hawk 460 fuselage. It certainly resembles the Hawk 460 but yours is bigger. Plus yours has wing fairings and the vertical fin is shaped different. The Hawk 460 is only 32" long and is for a .19 to .40 engine. Yours is 48" long which would use a 60 size engine. Mike
