Default Classic pattern DVD

I've got an awesome DVD from Charles Winter.
It's the best I've ever seen.

But I want to send a payment to Charles, can I send him money via PayPal and use his email address even if he does not have a PayPal account?
I'm not a pro with PayPal, and I have sant money in the mail before that got stolen, and I would like not to do it again.

Does any body know if I could use PayPal?

Thanks

If Mr. Winter is set up with paypal, Yes. But you will need his email adress to send him the money.

Hi,

When I bought the DVD from Mr Winter he had not Paypal account (that wastwo months ago).
He told me to send check or cash so I sent cash that covered the postage and I decided myselfhe shouldhave some for the DVD media itself also soI sent total $10 (and that felt to little to be honest considering how wonderful that DVD was to watch). That is for sending that DVDfrom US to Sweden I'm talking about.

Well the DVD shouldbe very interesting to watch for those that flew RC back in beginning of 1960th. But for me that started flying in 1973 (and we almost felt like pioneers, at least here where I live) it was a great glimpse in very early RC flying when they still flew reed radios and it just started to come proportional radios. I was impressed how good they flew back then but on the other side it was few selected top flyers that was invited to "Detroit Invitationals" 1963-64-65 that this DVD is about. And also about Tom Brett, World Champion in RC1/F3A in 1962 with his Perigee plane. I'm sure anyone interested in classic pattern flying will watch this DVD and think wow that was great flying and very interesting video and photos. It is hard to explain, just buy it and watch, for a few bucks it is yours. I do not regret a second I bought it. When I first loaded the DVD in my computer I watched it in one session and I have watched it a couple of more times after that. Mr Winter has put his soul into this DVD for sure.

Bo I was thinking the same thing, some extra for the good work and DVD disc.
I will see if my bank office got some $$.

What's so good about it: the whole thing to convert old Super8 to DVD, the music and all work Charles put in to it, and he just want's payment fore the shipping and the disc.

Joakim,

Try Forex instead - You know the Swedish banks do not have cash nor foreign exchange these days in their offices...

Well said Bo! Though it was before I started RC, we flew CL and FF along with the RCers. We did that on thenorth side of the field out of the way of the RCers. That was in the mid 60s, so when I got Chuck's DVD it rekindled loads of memories from that era.I actually could recall the fields layout, the stone drive, andthe ukie circles. It's a great DVD if you are familiar with that era.

I just yesterday received his new Selfridge DVD. I got it for the F-106 stuff.

I was able to send him a gift via PayPal, but he had not gone and "claimed" it as of a couple days ago.

Just back from San Diego

Information about this video was first posted on the forum a while back. Please refer to this link;

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10242869/tm.htm

The video is the best "documentary" of the early days of RC pattern I am aware of, and basically shows a "whos-who" of all the pattern pioneers in one place. Back in the mid-60s, the "Detroit Invitationals" was a major contest...kind of an early fore-runner of the TOC, by invitation only. You can PM Chuck Winter from his posting in that thread.

I sent a copy to Model Aviation editor Michael Ramsey, and asked him to give it to the AMA Museum.

It contains the only record I know of of someone flying a reed transmitter...the camera was a close-up focused on the radio, and it reminded me of someone playing the piano. 1962 FAI champ Tom Brett was the pilot flying the reeds...he was a master at it.

I agree with BEM...anyone with the SLIGHTEST interest in the history of RC, (and especially pattern), should DEFINITELY have a copy of this 50 minute DVD set to piano music. It means a little more to me because it was "shot" at my home field...the first club I belonged to which was the RCCD, (Radio Control Club of Detroit). I think Chuck had a 16mm movie camera, and the video is largely his home movies of the 63, 64, and 65 Invitationals. I KNOW I was at the 1965 event in the video, and my Dad is actually shown for a couple seconds as part of the crowd.

Also check out the Tom Brett thread referenced in that thread.

Duane
