Measure out half way on each wing. At that point you can determine the average chord by just measuring it. Establish your desired balance point ( perhaps on a piece of tape on each wing). You can try about 30% of that chord back from the leading edge for a fairly safe start on a aerobatic plane. Then draw a line between them to cross the fuelage underneath. That will put you in the ball park.
