Engines!
<hr size="1" style="background-color: #c5ccd3; color: #c5ccd3" />Hi guys,
We’ve been getting e-mails about NECPO rules and especially about legal Engines.
At NECPO flying events you can run any 2 stroke engine, no size limit as long it fits the airframe.
That makes all current available engines legal, even all the Jett engines, no need to hunt down old out of production motors without parts support.
Tune pipes and retracts are also legal and encouraged.
. . . Gear up and on the pipe!

Very nice! Thanks guys. The Tipo is very special and I really appreciated the story. Thanks Dick Hanson for the great design, even this tenderfoot can fly it due to it's great handling qualities.

Paul....definately a nice newsletter!
Attached is a pix of a Hanson Tipo I built back in 88'. This is the same kit described in the newsletter.
I think the fuse was made by Dave Scully...super quality!
It had YS 60 RE, IMRON paint, B&D retracts and JR radio.
The spinner is a special propotype made by Dave Shadel.

Dave, thanks for sharing your pic!!, Nice Tipo!!
Thank Ralph for the “Nice Newsletter” Guys.
I had little to do with it, other than to ask Dick Hanson to do the article on the Tipo!

It sure is! Nice work Ralph and Paul!
So if I understood the sequence of development of the Tipo it happened as follows:
[*] 1977: Modified Curare.[*] 1977-78: First Tiporare 720 Prototypes.[*] 1978-79: Dave Brown flies the Tipo 720 in competition.[*] 1980: Hippo Tipo 825 (enlarged area, longer and taller fuse and added recess for RE pipes).[*] 1980: MB Tiporare 720 article published.[*] ~1984: Tipo 750 (enlarged area from 720, changed airfoil, reduced anhedral, changed canopy location and spinner diameter).[*] ~1986: Tipo+ (reduced model size to 61" square, tail dragger, straight stab, very manouverable, OS 91 four stroke).[*] ~1990: Runaround evolved for IMAC sequences and turn around pattern.
I'm still a little confused about the "smaller 90 size version" referred to as the Tipo+ in the article (I think). There was at least one design known as the Tipo Surpass with the same type of specs as the Tipo+ (see below). Maybe they are one and the same (although the Tipo Surpass plans are dated 1990) but it would be cool to know. Perhaps Dick can clarify this.

Guys I’ve been a little laxed as of late and haven’t been posting much, but I’m now back to it.
It’s been a little over a month since the NECPO presentation at the WFC club.
We were very well received by the members; Rick did a great job with the presentation. We really had a great time!

I really hope that there's a good turnout from the classic pilots in New England. We have a primo field and the weather is usually good at that time of year. So let's hear from you guys!

The [link=http://www.necpo.org/fly-in-reg.php]1st Annual NECPO Fly In[/link] is less than a month away! Hoping to see many of you there!
You do not have to be a NECPO member to participate, everyone is welcome. You only need to be a little Classic Pattern Crazy!
If for no other reason, you should stop by just to see Paul's Novarossi powered Dirty Birdy fly! That thing promises to be crazy fast!! [X(]

Hey Gang,
In an effort to raise a little money to help cover some of the expenses incurred by NECPO over the past year, we have added a new store to the Web site: [link=http://www.necpo.org/store.php]www.necpo.org/store.php[/link] The store features a very nice, white Polo Shirt embroidered with the NECPO logo. The shirt is available in four sizes: Medium, Large, X-Large and 2XL Large. There are also some smaller promo items, three different size decals and a license plate. All meant to help spread the word about our organization and Classic Pattern.
During this past year we've had several individuals that have asked about donating to the cause, and to that end, a donation button has also been added to the site. It is located below the main menu at the left side of all the pages.
Thanks for everyone's support.
Hope to see you at the [link=http://www.necpo.org/fly-in-reg.php]Fly In[/link].
