I have been enjoying my modified T-H Kaos, it flys so much better with the OS .46 compared to the Magnum .46.

Believe it or not, I would take a Magnum .46 over an OS any day... I will say the Magnum. 46 is not a powerhouse and I wouldn't ever recommend one. I always had power problems with this displacement Magnum. I don't know if the XLS is any better. Nowadays, I'd buy the Mag .52 or a ST .51 instead. The ST takes a bit to break in... but it is definitely worth the effort!

Two of my four Magnum engines went sour this spring. Odd situation, never had any problems with OS.
The OS 46 pulls harder with stock muffler than the Magnum 46, Macs pipe on it's best day.
I fly off grass runway, the OS has plenty of muscle.
Everyone has their own experiences and opinions, this is mine.

when you start buying the Italian exotics (Rossi, NR and OPS) or YS engines, then you are into that sort of territory. How does 4 big bills for a RE OPS sound to you? Or almost 5 for a Jett 90? OS's are actually reasonably priced for their manufacturing and performance quality. The day you pick up an SF-P or an RF Hanno, you might change your mind (the carbs alone are a nice piece of engineering)..., you might just say, well, that was a workout... [8D]
Rossi's are all around beautiful brutes. They remind me of Lamborghini's, brawn, muscle and beauty in the eye of the beholder.
If you decide one day that the TST is not quite what you want on the Escape I recommend either one of the two below. The Nova or new YS short stroke would also be nice but more expensive alternatives.

Here are a couple photos of my Great Escape. Notice I added a turtle deck from the fiberglass canopy to the rudder tail post. The OS 91 Surpass was mounted inverted with a flexible header and tuned pipe running in the belly pan. Tail dragger with main gear retracts. Very nice set up!

MrSteve, great looking plane, you done well. Do you fly off grass? Wondering how well the Escape handles in grass as a tail dragger.
Last evening I ordered spring air 202d trike set but making as tail dragger in still an option.

Heres mine. Rossi 60 fire and nitro pipe. I do as many CPA contests as I can and the only problem with this set-up is the complaints from my helper carrying it out to the takeoff spot. So I usually just taxi out and call T/O. I encourage you to use the 3 gear. Just looks better I think. Have 2 UFO's flying. One 3 gear and one trike. Like the trike much better, and it lands soooo much easier then the tail dragger.

Still gathering materials for the build. Today I made a foam cutter, thanks R_G for posting information. Tested with a thick wire (SS safety wire), this thing works fine!
As needed custom wire tools will be fabricated as the build progresses.
My Spring Air retracts have yet to arrive but otherwise we are good to go. Stocked up on glues, resins, various weights of FG cloths, dope and silk span.
