LH exhaust port, 61. This is new to me, any history here ?

Vince, I saw that engine. My thought was perhaps the ends had been swapped around. I know you can do that with OPS engines.

End shaft looks clean. Never thought about flipping the case. See where it goes, price wise.

Looks like an FSR with the case flipped. If the porting is symmetric I'd imagine the engine can run in this configuration. If the porting is not symmetric, perhaps it can run in this fashion with the prop turning CW becoming a pusher or a puller if using a pusher prop.

Just speculating though...

Incorrectly (on purpose, who knows??) asembled engine, is my guess.

Look closely at the joint of the front end and the case; looks like a slight "step" there, not usually seen on OS engines.

Front housing and rear cover swapped. OS didn't make it that way.

this was a common practice for guys flying twins for symmetrical muffler placement, along with a lefthand crankshaft, rotating a case like in the picture will result in a loss of about 500-800 rpm per clarence lee, if one is still using a righthand crank
