Default Ursa major 25

Started this kit a few years ago, then "work" and wild "women" drove me out of the hobby for a lil bit.."More work then women" ..
Started this kit and a MK curare 20 about the same time.. So i am starting a build thread for each.. I am starting to see the ups man and the usps lady stopping once or twice a day now..
In other words i have ordered stuff i have not been able to find/dig out of storage.. So i will basicly have ten of everything that i will only need two of .. Got a big box of glue today and it made me a little giddy to get started..
I will post some pics i had up on another post long ago to get anyone who wants to follow up to speed.. I have a camera that is smarter then i am so the pictures kinda stink..
But here goes nothing..
The ursa major 25 from the yoshioka model factory!!!

The ursa builds with the ease of a mk kit quality wise...But they gave no reguard to the sanding aspect..

The white lines on the fuse is nothing more then liquid white-out.. I use it to fill in darker lines in the seams, there is a lot of white on the box cover scheme .. The White-out makes seeing the lines through the covering almost a non-factor..
Found a set of Spring air 602's Know i have another set someplace.. 100 box's to go through ended up ordering another set till i find the other.. Always will find a use for them..
Anyone know a good balsa dealer that sells comp balsa and doesnt mind shipping fast? Ton's of my saved list dealers sites seem to no longer work..

Any progress on the C20 or UM20?

David
David,
Work has been crushing me for over a month now... This is usually not a super busy time for us but it has been insane...
Just got back to both of them a few days ago, c-20 is almost ready to cover and the um-20 is getting close as well..
Just have to set in the wood for the retracts and finish sheeting/sanding on the um-20 and radio gear for both...Have boxs of stuff i ordered this go around all ready to go its just finding the time..
Will try to post some pics for both tomorrow to get them updated..Wanted to build another mk kit this winter but ill be lucky to get these 2 done...

Fuse , Much more filling and sanding to do...Parts all fit well but if anyone else has built this kit before knows its basicly a balsa block that has to be carved and shaped into a plane!!

With the curare now 99% done , its time to start covering the UM 20.. Starting the canopy layout .. Fuse is gona be a PITA in this area back and around the canopy area..Tight and curvy...
But the rest of the covering job wont be to bad at all, wont take much time to finish this one up...

Got me to thinking maybe i got enough time to get another one together for the flying season..
Comes down these

Skymaster 20 W/ jett 25 fire bse
Aurora 45 w/ os 46vf and pipe.
BA 40 w/ jett 40 fire bse
Or BA 60 w/hano ...

Thanks for the kind words chuck!
I think i am gona narrow it down to the sky20 or the BA 40..
The BA 60 i have been bothering a builder from my club to build that one for me..
Not that i cant build it or dont want to or wouldnt love to build it ...Its just he is one of the best builders on the planet..
And I want one or two planes built by this guy.. He wins toledo 9 out of 10 times he goes..
Just a bar none builder and his covering is just unreal..He builds 35% and 40% for imac and 3D for flyers all over the place..
Just got to catch him when he is not booked solid..
Pic of a plane he did in all Monokote...Throws the cowl out and builds a balsa one just so it can be covered..
Yes the clocks are all monokote !! Guy is unreal ..

Man!

Jason,

I've seen that Extra before. Unreal is an understatement. This guy must have infinite patience. How much does someone like that charge to built a 40% bird?

Serious talent...

I agree, he is a builder that is just in another league..
His wood work is unreal as well, it almost seems a shame to cover what he builds till you see the cover job he does..
Its hard to explain that anyone who builds would want someone else to build a plane for them. But he is a one of a kind builder..
If i remember right and i am not 100% sure because the last time i asked him about building a 35% to replace the 35% i have was about 3 years ago..
I think it was around 800 and up.. But that was when i was about to take a break from the hobby for a bit and never had him start...
I just remember for sure that what the cost was it was well worth it.
