2014 Classic Pattern Get-together, June 7th, Riverside

The Classic Pattern Association presents the Fourth Annual Classic Pattern Get-Together, Saturday, June 7th at the Riverside Radio Control Club airfield at Perris, California. The Riverside club has again generously allowed us the use of their fine facility for the day. Thank you RRCC! The event begins at 8:30, and ends at 4:00PM. See attached flier for map details. Drop me a PM for additional information.
The CPGT is the premier classic pattern fly-in in southern California. It is a friendly, no pressure fly-in style event where classic pattern enthusiasts can bring their old school pattern planes to fly, meet other classic pattern fliers and get help with trimming and flying. There will be some "old hands" available to help. AMA is required, and there is a $10 entry fee. We will have water and sodas available, but please bring your own lunch.
Given enough interest, we will hold a two round "pseudo contest" in the afternoon to give pilots the flavor of what it is actually like to fly through the pattern in a contest like environment. This has been well received in past events, all CPA classes will be available. We will also feature a "Pilot's Choice" award for the best classic airplane, decided upon by the participants.
If you do not have a "bona-fide" classic pattern airplane, please bring what you have. We are not hung up so much on the airplane, we are big on classic pattern flying as well as the vintage airframes. We promote an inclusive environment, in order to grow participation in classic pattern.
Don't miss this event! A great time will be had by all, and remember the emphasis is on FUN!!!

Well we are about a month away from the Get-Together, and preparations are under way. Pre Registration is now up and running on the CPA website. Please stop by there if you would and pre register. It helps the CD (me) with preparations. If you are going to participate in this years mini-contest, please specify which class you will be flying. Masters pilots please email me you pattern so we can enter in to the scoring computer.

Hey all,
Just a reminder- We are less than a week away from the:
2014 Classic Pattern Get-together!
A couple of notes:
We will have a cooler with water and drinks, but bring your own lunch.
The current forecast is for a high temperature of 88 degrees. Dress accordingly.
The "official" start time is 8:30 AM, but we will be there early, feel free to do the same. We basically have the field for the day.
See you there!

Hey all,
If you have a video camera, please bring it. How cool would it be to share all of the classic action with the rest of the community???

WOW! What a day!

The 2014 Classic Pattern Get-Together is in the books. We had 13 pilots attending. The weather was very good, not blazing hot as one might expect from a June day at Riverside.
First off, let me extend my gratitude to the Riverside Radio Control Club for once again giving us the use of their airfield for the day. This is our second year at this location, and I hope that it is a long term relationship. Their field is a great location for this type of activity. We are thankful to be able to do our thing there.
I am also very grateful to my wife and CPGT Hostess Jennifer Fish, and also to Donald Fox. Donald stepped up and took on the role of scorekeeper this year and has agreed to support classic pattern in this capacity. Jennifer handled the administrative tasks, and was a most effective line boss during the contest phase. The CPGT would not be what it is without their most valued efforts and support.
It is our privilege to serve the Classic Pattern community in this way. The CPGT format is an opportunity to get pilots from behind the keyboard and bring classic pattern alive. For most of us, this is a hobby, and work, family, etc. get first billing in life, pushing our beloved pursuits to the back burner. For some, the CPGT is one of the few occasions that hey get to go after it, so we try our best to provide a premium experience.
We are looking forward to next years' event. Meanwhile, we still have several great CPA events on the calendar. This includes the first ever CPA West Coast Regional Championships. I welcome any questions that you have regarding these upcoming events, as well as any feedback that you have regarding the CPGT. I am always looking for ways to improve the experience.
I will post pictures as soon as I can convince my smart phone to communicate with my dumb computer. CPA members, there will be a complete write up in the upcoming CPA newsletter.
Meanwhile, here are the contest results:
Pre-Novice:
1. Brian Connor
2. Jonathan Rinde
Novice:
1. Donald Fox
2. Paul Rinde
Advanced:
1. Tak Takayama
2. Doug Woodward
3. Cal Orr
4. Scott Holmes
Masters:
1. Tony Frackowiak
2. Brad Lang
3. Robert Fish
Pilots Choice:
Brad Lang, Beetle

Sorry for your loss.
I plead ignorance on the subject of classic pattern planes. I thought it could be a Jekyl. Anyway when you finish the Jekyl I would like to get a picture I can print out to show the person who donated it, I think he would get a kick out of seeing it completed.

Thank you Kevin and Dick

Once again Kevin Gribben and Dick Johnson (Wingswestrc.com) brought shirts for the participants. Every year they pick a maneuver from the old rulebook to be featured on the shirt. They have become a staple item at the CPGT.
Thank you guys for your continued support. Check out the goodies that they have available on wingswestrc.com. (Hint: Support our sponsors!)
