I understand. These old birds are dear to my heart also. Never hurts to ask though.

Hello I recently purchase an ARROW .60 Pattern Plane from a friend that has never been flown. I would like to learn more about it. Can anyone tell me about it? I do not have a manual. This plane has never been flown and has a custom paint job on it. ......Only thing I noticed is that the throw on the ailerons is barely anything .....is that normal?

On the older speed planes it doesn't take much throw. You can probably go on the classic pattern forum and I'm sure somebody would have some info on cg and throws.

I got an Aurora .45 at a club swap meet years ago. Partially built the fuse, then put it up. I just found a YS. 45 FR on E-bay, and it looks like it will get finished now, wife permitting.

nhelge, you need to have this plane examined and test flown by a classic pattern pilot. we live and breathe classic pattern planes. i am offering to test fly your Arrow for the period of one yr to make really sure everything is perfect.[sm=teeth_smile.gif][sm=tongue_smile.gif] please send it to................. oh well, it was worth a try.

I have one that has a YS .60 FR in it. (the one with the round cylinder head) It is almost finished. I bought it in this condition from a guy at a swap meet years ago, and never did anything on it. It was well built, but was suffering from some pretty moderate hangar rash. It is missing a stab tip. There is some damage to the wing sheeting, including some holes and water marks. If you are intersted, I can send pictures. It needs TLC. I was planning to restore it, but am open to thinning out the hangar. PM me if you are intersted.

Dave.

(the engine is used, and I have never run it, so condition is unknown)

Thanks to birdman for bumping this thread. Sorry I never replied to this. It is still sitting there, but now I have a workshop.

I make a fiberglass chin cowl and the canopies for the Aurora 60.. I also have the plans. I will cut foam cores in a week or two for it and many other Classic Pattern planes. I also make a fiberglass Speeda fuselage and wing pan.
