Default Dave Smith Excelsior Question

Hi,

I've been flying for quite a while now and recently I have been talked into buying a David Smith Excelsior. Not sure which one, I have been told it will suit a 120 engine. I have a YS 140DZ that is going to make it's way into this model soon

The wing is cut for retracts, which retract's should I use on this model? I've also been told that standard servo's are OK? I really don't want to use standard servo's, which servo's would you recommend.

A buddy of mine flies the 163 with a piped 91 2-stroke which is ample power. He's got Robart air retracts. I don't recall the wing being cut for anything, he did all that himself.

You might have problems fitting a 1.20 in the 163's nose. Have a look at either the wide-fuse version of the big smart move or the Ex 177. Send Sandy an e-mail and ask, I'm sure he'll recommend either of the two, the 163 might be a tad too small for such an engine.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a 163, I think it's either a 177 or a 188.

Thank you for the Retract info, I bought it second hand so it might of been the previous owner that did the cutting.
