Default Pattern control throws

I'm messing with an old Sig King Kobra, and I think there's too much throw in the ailerons. I had them go max deflection so I could utilize them as flaperons too, but now it's very squirrly and rolls too fast on low rate. I guess you can't just dial down ATV, because then you lose so much system resolution, but if I re rig it I lose my flaperons....what should you typically have for degreees of throw on strip ailerons?
On a side note, I'm really liking this new rate setup suggested by Dave Patrick's aerobatics book. I have the ailerons set on the throttle stick, about 65% or so, elevator on expo, and rudder on a switch.
