Back in the early 80's I competed with two Deceptions. I have fond memories of them both. One was destroyed in a mid-air at the Glen Sig Memorial contest in Jacksonville, FL at the old 103rd street flying field. That was around 1984, I think. At any rate, I still have the canopy. I suppose I could "repair" the plane by simply replacing all the support structure around the canopy, i.e., fuselage, wings, tail, etc. Sorta like restoring a crashed full scale plane by starting with the data plate. I know that plans are available and that one can get foam wing cores from Dynamic Balsa, but what about the stab cores? I have seen a lot of references in this forum to people scratch building some of the classics, so what are folks doing for the stabs? I have cut cores before, although I no longer have access to the foam cutting equipment. And finding the proper foam was always a problem, too. Of course, if anyone had a kit available, I would be interested.

Jeff: Mr. Rich Ernst down there in Florida had an excellent "DECEPTION" project (build) and story in the MAR/APR 2006 issue
of the SPA newsletter which you may download and enjoy by going to the SPA (Senior Pattern Association website) at:
www.seniorpattern.com
and downloading that newsletter. Rich flew it in our MASTERS contest last week-end in Hotlanta, GA. Was very nice.
Perhaps he could assist you with the things you need to resurrect yours, I hope so. His E-Mail address is:
"Rich Ernst" <[email protected]>
I hope this will be some help to you and good luck on the Deception project.

Jeff: I just tried to "upload" a photo of Rich Ernst and the DECEPTION that I shot of him in the SPA MASTERS
contest in Atlanta.....but don't exactly understand what I am doing on this thread....I thought I'd get an image
preview of the photo....but didn't.....so don't know where it went to an UPLOAD.
If you'll send me your e-Mail address, I'll send it to you directly.

Incidentally, the MASTERS contest was last week-end a week ago there at the Paulding County Model Club
field near Dallas, GA.
