Boy, it all gets so serious. I just want to learn to slam the sticks in a non competive fashion. Lots of great info there though. Put icons on my desktop for them so I read entirely tonight. Thanks ! Oh, a couple of them wouldn't work (links) I'll try those klater tonight when I get back from flying.

Thanks ! I'll check them out. I have been practicing inverted flying and knife edges on the RF 2 sim. Im sure the knife edge will be not so easy in real life, but short straight passes should be a piece of cake. On the sim I can go to knife edge on take off, and fly the whole flight that way now. lol I actually got burned out on it last night, and now im back to normal flight again. I like flying my planes just barely above tip stall speed the best, it just looks neat, and is sooooo much fun. I hardly ever fly over 2/3 throttle. Just avove idle is way more entertaining for me.

Pattern is serious. You must be thinking of 3D or Free style flying. There are lots of videos available featuring those styles.

Just be sure to have lots of coffee and No-Doze with you. Pattern is only entertaining when you are flying. <G>

Yep, I think I know what ya mean. I cannot watch anyone doing 3D with a plane or heli. Heck, Alan Szabo puts me to sleep ! lol However, I could kick back and watch someone on a buddy box with a Tower trainer all day long... Thats entertaining because we all been there, and it's fun to watch as he gets smoother. Then watching them practice landing is a total gas ! You can see the alert readyness and fear in the trainers eye's, just waitin to have to take it away inches from the ground. lol Im surprised my friend Greg (taught me in 2002) never had a heart attack. I used to make him so mad. I had a bad habit of wanting to fix bad landings, and so eventually had to teach me the art of stall speed flying and throttle stab landing repair. Today im quite proficient at it. I get a real kick out of the guys who can fly fantastic, but they can't land worth beans. I love to watch people land, unless there comin at me, and thats been happening lately too. I actually had to tell Greg to go over and show a guy how to land his freakin plane before he hurts someone. lol You don't get that kind of entertainment at a sanctioned flying field !

Here's some good video (simulation) of pattern manuevers. Very well explained as far as the execution do's and do not's.
