Curare or Leopards Orders Wanted ! ! ! !
#1
Hello "Classic BPA Flyers"!
Thanks to Ron Coleman, I have located a German Company that produces the Curare in .40 and .60 size and also produces the Leopard which Ron helped me properly identify.
This is a post to see if there are those including myself and 2 other BPA members who want to put together an Order for these aircraft.
The kits are roughly $113.00 each NOT INCLUDING SHIPPING FROM Germany we are making an attempt to put together at least a 10 kit order which will get the shipping to be about 15 - 18.00 per kit to get them to a SINGLE ADDRESS in the US. I used my address in TEXAS and I can either bring them to the "Huntsville Contest" and you can pick them up there OR, if you wanted to pay the additional shipping to your home, then that would be in addition to the shipping from Germany.
I'm including pictures of the aircraft and a picture of the kit which Ron owns. (Leopard)
The kits feature Epoxy glass fuse, Sheeted foam wings and Stab, tip wood, formers where necessary.
Please post here and if you want one of these aircraft , then I will open a PayPal account especially for the purchase of at least 10 kits.
I think the price is very reasonable personally with the work thats been done to them.
Thanks,
Tony

Sorry glowplugboy,
I had another post where the complete specs where given.. The "Leopard" is .60 size only. Approximately the same size as the Curare. I've built plenty of Curare's, Tipo's Great Aircraft. "The Leopard" simply tripped my trigger when a buddy sent me the pictures, before I even knew what it was! ! ! Love that "Blue Tinted Clear Canopy"!
Specs:
63" WS
56" Long
10cc engine (.60)
************************************************** **************
Thank you for the "Interest" shown. I am going to set up a PayPal account just for this purchase, so the cost of the order will be cleared before we ORDER the kits. Those that do purchase will be kept Informed as to the status of the Order.
::Propbuster:::
The Curare, will be built exactly as you see the "Leopard" photo included with my first post about these. Glass Fuse, Sheeted wings and stab, formers diecut (At least as pictured). If this doesn't answer you questions please PM me with your email and I'll try and find the answers to your other questions.
::::SteveW::::
Thanks, I appreciate your interest and will be contacting you for additional information.
:::Chuck::::
Get Ready for some "SERIOUS BALLISTIC SPEED" with any good Jett 90L... Yeaaaah Baby! ! ! [sm=shades_smile.gif]
Should know by the weekend, if we are going to surpass the 10 Kit minimum.
Thank you again,
Tony

I was asked the question: What plans are these kits based on?
The answer came from Germany today. These two Kits Curare .60 and Minare .40 are based on the 1977 plans released by Hanno Prettner in Germany. These plans were released before the M.A.N Plans and MK Kits were released. So these would be I'm sure using Hanno's original Plans to produce these kits.
I did not ask about the Leopard since it is a "Stand Alone" aircraft.

Ok, latest news from the owner of the Company in Germany here is the current pricing based on ‘Exchange Rates’. This price ***DOES NOT*** include the shipping charges. This will be determined at the point in time when the order is completed and ready for shippment. Based on the approximate weight and size of the 10 kits it is strickly ESTIMATED at between 15 and 18 dollars per kit. BUT final cost of shipping will be when the order is complete and all shippers checked. Just to remind those that have just signed in here... All kits will be sent to ONE address in Texas. Then either "reshipped" in the US if you want or brought to Huntsville in August to the contest.
Considering the actual money exchange rate these kit prices are valid:
CURARE 60: US$ 112.00 per kit
CURARE 40: US$ 103.00 per kit
LEOPARD: US$ 116.00 per kit
The owner of the Company has stipulated at least a 10 kit order, We can ADD too this number which will not effect price of the kit, but possibly cause the Shipping charges to be less because we are ordering more kits.
Now, if you are going to use PayPal, PLEASE PLEASE add 4.9% + $0.30 if you are going to use a Credit Card, Debit Card or eCheck, because that is a FEE that PayPal charges a Seller. IF you have a PayPal account with a Balance in it, then they don’t charge “ME†anything. Please know that I want to help all of us by making this easy.
In this CASE, I am only a Conduit, I’m not making a dime on these kits as I simply want some of these fine Aircraft myself. And I am willing to wait to get them, the quality and amount of work done on these kits makes this price very reasonable in my humble opinion. Plus the fact that the Kits were produced from Plans that “Hanno†released in Germany before they made the trip to the US! ! So I’m sure they are much more accurate as to his specifications than the later versions.
Now, I received word, that the owner of the company can produce 1 to 2 kits per week. So in looking at this, it can be a minimum of about 2 months before he can have the ORDER OF 10 completed. The owner is still trying to shop and get us the least expensive way to get the kits to the US.
In Keeping with simple good Business practice, he has requested a 50% deposit on the 10 kits to begin work, with the remaining balance due before they are shipped including the Shipping charges.
He is prepared to begin work NEXT WEEK, if we can get the Deposit too him.
So Fellows, I need you to either mail me a check (personal), use PayPal if that is quicker for you and I need for each of you to please email me with your

***Announcement Alert***
I just received confirmed shipping costs. There's a "problem" as you will notice that it is much more expensive than expected:
-----------------------------------------
insured shipping to Houston/Texas
max dimensions of package is 150x60x60 cm
EUROS 300.-
-----------------------------------------
According to the Owner, the higher costs do result from the long fuselages exceeding 120 cm. Everything below 120 cm can be shipped by regular post at prices we've all expected. However in this case unfortunately a freight forwarding company that processes bulk goods has to be authorised.
The owner has requested that we pay the international money transfer fees. I know what my bank charges to SEND money but I don't know what his bank might charge to RECEIVE the funds, but none the less, he is requesting that we pay his part of the money transfer.
Shipping Cost Conversion--EUROS 300 = $389.70 Dollars Which for round numbers for your consideration is an additional $40.00 shipping cost per kit + Banking Fees.
Please, all who have sent me money, send me an email with your vote to either CONTINUE or if you want me to return your funds. I simply need to know what the consensus is on these changes before we can go on.
I'm still a GO since it is still IMHO a good deal on the kits with the work done on them. Bottom line though I can't do it without all the rest![sm=wink_smile.gif]
Please respond Quickly!

I'm still in! $40 each for international shipping is a deal, as I've paid a lot more before. For the price including the increased shipping and money fees, it's still a good deal on one of these classic birds!!

Yeah..I sent a e-mail...I'm still in too...Actually that's not really bad at all shipping wise...Hopefully the "+ Banking Fees" won't be astronomical?? I haven't got a clue about that stuff...
I don't do very much UPS shipping ect...I wonder if you could ship it domestically for that??
One thing that bugs me a bit about this post:
Those dimensions are one A/C Kit...Not a crate of 10 type dimensions...
Can we clarify that the $389.70 is not "Per Kit"
I would kinda expect a quote of a Bulk shipment via a pallet or crate to list Over All dimensions and weight...
I'm a little worried about that...
I'd hate to see all these kits get built and paid for...But stuck across the pond because we(*I* anyway) can't afford the shipping costs...
BTW..I'll be Out if the shipping is $389.70 per kit..he he
The more I think about it...I kinda got a Feeling... [sm=disappointed.gif]
Ahhh...Hopefully all will be well!! I'm looking forward to it!!!
Thanks for your Hard Work putting this Together!!
