Ok...I see this "Basket Case" Curare on e*ay (Believe me..It's a Basket Case)..So I get it...My "plan" is to use it sort of as a "template" for building my own...It was close to home, I could pick it up and the bid wasn't awfully high...(I'm glad someone didn't win that had to add another 25 or so bucks shipping)
There appears to be allot of variants of the Curare...If you look at the pics it's kinda tough to see two of them that look exactly the same...I'm no efficinado by any means so I was hoping some of you all may shed some light...
Hanno's Curare appears to have a rounded nose on the top...If you look at the front of the canopy you will really notice a big difference...The canopy looks to be significantly in general...Smaller and it looks to be place differently??
If you see my pic...The top of the nose is very flat...Notice how flat the front of the canopy is...It appears to be a much larger canopy as well as being place a little differently...
I'm wondering if my basket case is a legitimate design?? I've seen other "flat nose" Curare's in photos...But it's often hard to tell from the photo's how close to mine they are...
I've attached some pics...Can anyone shed any light??
Thank You!!
Chuck

Hanno's original (wooden) Curare plans are still available from the RCM&E web site, they now have a plans order service up and running.
Have a look at the old mags, 1975 onwards and you will see just how many manufacturers jumped on the design, all of them `tweaked' it a little, I believe that the MK kit is closest to Hannos original idea.

Hey Chuck, Good find on the Curare! I've found a couple of variations on it and not sure why they differ. The Quality Line Kits version I'm reproducing has the flatter nose and as the pic of the balsa plane I assume built from plans shows, has the rounder one. The canopy location differs in the two variations (Super Curare and standard Curare) that Quality Line Kits produced too. I'd patch up the one you've got and get her in the air!

It appears it could have used more sanding. IMHO, you have scored a gem at a great price.
