To all those interested in the Senior Pattern Association who are in the North East, We are now planning on having an SPA contest on October 6th, 2007.
We are planning to host the event in Freehold,Nj at U fly Hobbies. This will be a one day event that will entail an SPA contest for Novice, Sportsman and Master classes. This event will be an "Open" event, meaning that SPA members and non-SPA members may participate. The SPA rules and guidelines will take place. For information on the rules and guidlines refer to the SPA website www.seniorpattern.com
If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions you may have. I will be providing more information within over the next few weeks, but please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
I really look forward to having this event and I am positive that it will be a great time! Anyone who has attended any SPA event can tell you that it is a lot of fun and a great experience!

My Feedback: (14)
I moved to Georgia in May of 1998 and have not been back to NJ since then. This might be a good time to visit the relatives/friends and attend an SPA contest. I like it being held in October too. No 90 plus temps to deal with.
Keep us posted on the progress, please.

I don't have a SPA-legal plane right now, but I'll gladly come and watch or help.

Grab a Tower Kaos ARF or an Intruder 90 ARF by World Models. I'm going with the Kaos first. I need some place to run all of these Enya .45CX engines I have accumulated.

Sounds great Jim
Couldn't you arrange to move N.J. a little closer to Asheville
?
Still hoping you, (and everyone on this thread), will be able to come to the Masters in mid Sept in Knoxville. Knoxville is a nice site with scenery ALMOST as nice as Asheville
It will be worth your while to see and experience one of the best run contests within SPA.

Any plane is legal in the Novice class. Grab a plane and fly. It's a hoot.........

Also, I'm doing a Sr Falcon w/ my son - it was around in the late 60's, but is not on the SPA list. Probably not competitive in Expert, but will you allow the design?
So, can I fly in 2 classes?

After reading your post regarding the Senior Falcon, I went to APPROVED planes on the Sr. Pattern website and
in the Prior to 1965 or Antique class: (Cut & Pasted)
FALCON 56 FALCON SENIOR
These airplanes, with proper power, should do the NOVICE maneuvers nicely. I recall having lots of fun flying a
Falcon 56 powered by a Veco 19........and then later, a Senior Falcon with an Enya .60 in its' nose. Nice performers.
Jim and the New Jersey Chapter are going "All-Out" to make this initial NE SPA contest a "doozy".
Best wishes, Bruce Underwood SPA 15 Pres. Guntersville, AL

The Senior Falcon is a definite SPA airplane, I fly one myself with an OS .46FX and it is one of my favorite airplanes ever! (In my opinion it is truly one of the great legendary designs in R/C). I believe that it would be a great plane to fly in novice class and you could have a lot of fun flying it in SPA.

OK, made my hotel reservation. Residence Inn, Cranbury, NJ looks like about 15 miles away. The closer ones were booked, some kind of show going on near the shore.

Guys,
I hate to say it but the weather looks pretty poor today and Saturday. For right now I am unable to re schedule a date right now, but I would like to have a rain date set up because I know alot of folks seem to be quite interested in this event, and I believe it is important to reschedule it. Please contact me by email at [email protected] because I would really like to get some personal input from everyone interested in SPA.
