It is official, my club the Staten Island Radio Control Modelers will be hosting an SPA event sometime in the late spring or early summer. I will let you know the date as soon as we decide. Are you interested?

Hi John:
Where do you fly on the island. Trying to figure out how close to the Gothels Bridge your field is.
Coming down from CT but do not want to do the Whitestone and Narrows bridge with BQE.
Peace
Mark O

So let me think here............
Organizational meeting Feb 23 WRAMS
Free Bird's club - spring tune-up SPA
Staten Island - Contest
NJ - contest
Not a bad year to start SPA with!

Freebird. Set your date, my club calendar is starting to fill up. We have a limited amount of days for special events. A lot of my members are sport flyers and dont like to give up tomuch flying time.

Jim Hamilton sent me an E-mail the other day, he is in Florida getting trained and checked out on the Airbus 320. He said he will give me a call this week to discuss our future plans. I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for the update, I hope Jim can make the WRAM meeting. I went to yellowpages.com and directions and got a good birds eye view of your clubs field. Looks like a good place to have an SPA type contest. Saw a nice looking cub in the ariel photos of the field. Easy ride from the Goethals Bridge.
See you at the WRAM show.
Peace

You will find that my club is very diverse, from pattern planes to war birds to scale, gas, glow and electric. Does anyone have a date for the Conn. contest. I am waiting on that and also our NSRCA pattern primer date.

The Staten Island Pattern primer is June 14, we can have our SPA event early or late. Suggestions? By the way if anyone is interested everyone is invited to the primer. You dont have to be a NSRCA member to compete. Please let me know

Hey Guys:
What's with the weather wizards talking about all this snow Friday? Hope it is OK Saturday morning for the WRAM show. Hate driving there in the snow.

Well, it seems that the CT guys will be there. I hope that others from the Tri-State area show, as I really need to firm up the date for the CT Spring Tune-Up at the CCRCC field in Farmington, CT. I surely would like to have a nice turn out for this low-key get together.

Hi Guys,
I have not heard from Jim but, I will be there. Lets make a more specific place to meet. Maybe outside one of the meeting rooms? That is where they conduct the seminars. I will be attending the NSRCA meeting that begins at 1PM in room F. How about we meet at 12:30 in front of that room.

Sounds good to me. If it was at 12:30 that is better than later. Just went outside have 6" of four letter white stuff on ground already so I hope tomorrow is a go. If weather permits will see you there. We 4 member types are carpooling so I hope roads are OK here in eastern CT. It is 118 miles to WRAM, long ride in snow.
Peace

I wanted to drive down with my boy for the weekend, but the snow is just starting to fall and 260 miles of driving through snow doesn't sound fun. Good luck with the organizing meeting. I hope to see all of you a few times this summer!
I am planning my days off this summer, so the sooner we can finalize the final schedule the better!
Now I need to work on getting a legal plane. I have several options that are legal if I want to fly in Novice the but the only plane that fits the engine requirements is my Ultra Sport with the OS 46 on it. I have a Curare, but it is 2500 miles away at my Dad's house and needs a new engine. I hope to get that later this year.
Drive carefully gentlemen!

Very hazardous travel conditions in eastern Connecticut right now. I-95, I395 and I-84 are all closed at 2:40 PM. Tractor trailer and multi vehicle accidents have them all closed. Stay safe so we can do some flying this summer. I can't even get to the highway right now. And the snow is heavier in the White Plains area.

Yea, the roads are very slick right now. By tomorrow I'm sure they'll be fine.
