Hi.

I'm getting hold in a Flair Meteor .60 and wonder if anyony has any input on this model.
Is it a good flier, any pictures would be nice.

Thanks.

Hello Martenson.
I used to own a Meteor .40 (there was three sizes for this model .25 .40 and .60). The three aircraft are exactly the same they are just scaled . It was my 3rd plane.
What can I say ? Well, fuselage was a piece of art, a bit heavy but great quality. Fuselage is very sleek, a very nice shape. The bloody red color was nice. It is made of polyester resin along with un-wovern fiberglass cloth. Unusual. I can tell you it was VERY tough. Wing is made of foam cores+ strong obechi planking. Very nice quality too.
It is sold with a three legged landing gear. I decided to build it as a tail dragger though (looks better, less drag and is lighter). Had to reinstall plywood spars inside the foam cores and it worked quite well.
I had redesign the rudder too. Not that tall but with a bigger surface.
Power was an OS 46 SF with std mufller along with 10x6 prop. It was not very fast. You could reach higher speeds with a better engine but you have to know that wing section is very thick, which eases low speed approaches, actually a Meteor does not stall easily.
Mine was shot down by another modeller. It fell out of the sky, directly though a tree. Wing was cut into two pieces [&o] and fuselage only suffered minor cracks. It was over though.
I 've contacted Flair about their making a new batch, they told me that's not going to happen.
A friend of mine had the .25 and the .60 sized ones, powered by a Webra .28 and an OS .60/61 SF, they were both VERY nice.
I really miss it today.

Have you got yours ? You should really buy it There's nothing equivalent on the market today.
