Default Retract Question

I've got a couple of Eureka short kits (Banshee & Troublemaker) and would like to outfit them with retracts. Spring Air units look good but which series would be best for these models? The 100 or 200 series? And yes I know, if I use these models for SPA, the gear needs to remain down. Thanks for the help!

Hi Free Bird,

I just purchased a set of Spring Air 101HDs. They are very robust and I don't see any reason they would not work in a Banshee or Troublemaker. Infact, the Banshee is next on my "want to build" list and the 101HDs are planned for that project.

Clay,

If you get started on this, keep us posted. I'm planning on doing a build thread starting in January.

Freebird,

I'm holding out for Doug at Lado Technologies to develope his electric nose gear retract before I build my Dirty Birdy. I bought a set of his main gear retracts and the quality of the units is outstanding and the price was very reasonable to boot. I am in no way associated with Lado-Technologies other than being a very satisfied customer. Just my 2 cents worth.

FreeBird,

I look forward to your build thread. The Banshee has always been one of my favorites.

I'm just getting a good start on a Mach 1. When it's finished I'll start on the Banshee.

100 series will carry the load for what you are doing.

Can anyone describe the differences between the 100 and 200 series? They both use 3/16" gear wire and they cost the same.

Thanks,
David

David,

With the 100 series you can make a choice of using 5/32 or 3/16 wire. You also have the option of getting a firewall mount nose gear.

The 200 series is 3/16 wire only with no option for a firewall mount.

Acutally my 101HD mains are drilled for oleo struts. Adaptors were supplied to accommodate the 3/16 gear strut.
