Default Perry Carb and Pump???

Hey Guys... I'm just finishing up an original Kaos kit and have a new in box OS .60 FSR for power. A buddy of mine and I went to a few hobby shops around the area and while digging through boxes I found a new in box Perry carb and back plate pump. The boxes for each are marked "OS 60 FSR" and the carb box also is marked "for use with perry pump" or something close as such. My question is... is the intent of the set to add power or to make an engine reliable?

A friend ran his .60 FSR's with the backplate pump and carb set-up back in the mid-late 70's on his Dirty Birdy...
The big bore carb will add power (can't remember exactly how many r.p.m. but it was several hundred ) and the pump allowed him to mount the tank over the C.G.

He also had a pumped FSR .60 in a scratch built (ultra light ) Kwik Fli III... that was pretty hot for the time.
