Back before I started pattern flying there was a model on fm that was called the saturn se I think this must have been about 71 or 72,Has anyone built or flown one.It was one of those one of these days planes and now I am running out of days so am trying to find out if it would be worthwhile.

I never built one but plans are still available from
http://www.rcstore.com/ME2/dirmod.as...2&cat3=Pattern
look on page 2 at the bottom, sorry my copy and paste did not highlight the link. Its the Satun SE which, I think, Ivan Kristnsen flew at the TOC in Nevada and also won the Canadian Nats with.

What are the real differences between the first and second versions of the Saturn? I have the Saturn SE plan, and a fuselage with stab cores from a Flight Glass kit. I tried to match up the Saturn fuselage to the SE plans and the fuselage appeared the same, but the airfoil was different - at least it didn't match up as close as I would have liked to the wing saddle.
RD - would you happen to have a PDF scan of the original Saturn article and plan, or a high resolution scan of the Saturn plan that would blow up to full size with out any issues. I know where I can get a NIB Webra Speed .61 with TN carb and I still have the pipe from my old Saturn.
Is $150.00 for a NIB Webra Speed .61 a fair price these days?

Just for comparison's sake, here's the earlier 10/74 version.
The original Saturn was published in the October 1975 issue of MAN.
The Saturn SE was published in the October 1980 issue of MAN.
As far as I know Flying Models never published any version of the Saturn.

Changes made to Saturn SE are:
Aileron chord to 1 3/8" from 1" and shortened to maintain area
Cutouts in wing and use of 1/64 ply covering to save weight
Nose lengthened 1/4", made more pointed to take a 2 1/2" CB spinner
Stab lowered 5/8" to bring in line with thrust line
Thrust line lowered 1/8"
Rudder new shape for better knife edge, and sub fin added
All from Ivan Kristensen article in MAN
