Default Blast from the past

Guys,
13 years ago,I gave my buddy a tipo that I had been flying for 7 years.I just got hired by Northwest Airlines, and was moving from Ny to Minneapolis, and knew I wouldn't have time for rc airplanes for a while. Now I live in pa,and my bud still had the tipo, and wasn't doing much in the hobby, while I've been extremely active, mostly in the jet arena.Anyway, the tipo came home, and I'm psyched.Hung an OS 91fx in it(laying around)with a Mac nitro pipe.Gonna run an 11x8,and flog that motor till ball bearings shoot out the pipe. Then I'll strip it,and paint it something badass, and hang a jett 90 on it.I've attached a pic,it's in the same skin from 20+ yrs ago.Paint on the fuse, monokote wings and stab. Also post a dark pic of my real ballistic pattern plane,BVM Super Bandit.

Different note,I looked at some BPA threads, and reference the NJ contingent read reference to John.Thinking Jon Gerber. The man soloed me at Floyd Bennett when I was 14.Hey John, what's up?! These days I'm a capt instructor/check airman on the DC-9.Call me.610-554-7455.Love to hear from you.

Along other lines,I'm on the board at Farview Flyers,in Hamburg,Pa,and we have an awesome grass facility.Giant scale, jet rallies every year.Hosting Rally of Giants in 09.I'd love to cd a BPA event anytime.Anyway,I'm mushy about the tipo,so I figured I'd share it with you all.

Erik:

I would think that a Tipo with a piped OS 91FX or Jett 90 might give that old DC-9 a run on the top end. Hamburg PA used to be the closest Cabellas to us up here in CT so I have been there a number of times. That should be a great area for a BPA meet. I have a couple of piped ships ready to go.

P.S. I hope you guys don't merge with Delta. I have too many Worldperks miles to let go. We want to do the new Hartford - Amsterdam trip to Europe in the fall.

Peace

Hamburg PA, just west of Allentown - I'd go to a SPA or BPA meet there!

Mark,

The 9 is a good, old school airplane.Pilots airplane.I get new hires that have been flying glass their whole lives, and that round-dialed nineosaur eats their lunch every time.Merger is sticking on the seniority list.Delta had 2000 guys go early and take a lump sum pension payout of about 1.5m.We saved our pension, and the senior guys stuck around, hence we will have 1500 more retirements than them in the next 5 years, and they don't want to hear that.Plus they have more crews per airframe than we do(we're leaner). No telling if it will happen.Only upside to me would be eventually driving to work in NY,rather than commuting to Detroit,my present base.

If you get out this way, come and see us.Regular guys, awesome flying site.Check out the website,Farviewflyers.net.
Take care,

Erik
