If anyone is patient enough these kits do come up for sell and not all of these kits are sold for top dollar. Many MK kits are sold on ebay by people who find these kits at garage or estate sales. They don't know the MK kit value and can be bought for around the original selling prices back when Indy RC was selling them. Singapore Hobbies was selling MK kits, but these few kits have recenty been sold and are no longer available. With the economy being slow and older flyers can no longer build their kits, they are letting some of the MK kits go to the new generation of pattern modelers, just keep looking and you'll get what you're looking for. Since the quality of MK kits and good flying just can't be beat or replaced, they will continue to hold their value.

I agree with everything said above. However (and I keep records), the number of MK kits appearing on ebay has definitely declined in the past year or so. Eureka sells kits for several of the older pattern designs (Atlas, Curare, Super Sicroly) that were kitted by MK. There is a gentleman from Korea (hobby shop owner) who seems to have a large stock of MK kits which he periodically lists on ebay (he has 2 of the newer 3D MK kits out there now), but his prices (including shipping) are not cheap. I suspect there may still be MK kits to be found in some of the good Japanese hobby shops; I'd like to take a hobby shop tour of Asia someday (like when I win the lottery
).
The new pattern kits available from Japan (Wingray) are true works of art, but you will pay a premium for them.
MK apparently ceased kit production about 2 years ago. They had produced the Curare, Blue Angel 60 and 40 kits in the past decade. Anybody know what the story is with Kato Model Products?

flywilly,
I agree that MK kits ar somewhat harder to find nowadays then before but here and ther they can be found on various auction sites.
I really like the MK balsa kits - and the plans are masterpieces, wonderful drawings. ImagineMK was still in buisiness today they would probably have fantastic ARF's. The man from South Korea (walking-man-2004) has sold many MK kits during the years (I have bought someMK kits from him). Take a look at this positive feedback at the famous auction site and You understand his service, the many hundreds feedbacks with 100% positive feedback would almost be impossible to achieve without top service. The transactions I have been doing with him about MK kits has been excellent. He has rather high starting bid sohe know very well the value of MK kits. I believe he was an MK reseller (maybe a ditributor) back when MK kits was in production.
I have some facts about the MK factory etc but it is written in Swedish and I'm to lazy for the moment to translate or make a summary (maybe later).

I was considering writing a letter to MK given that I have a Japanese friend who was willing to translate the letter. I was interested in knowing what the status and plans of the company were. Although the production of MK kits appears to have ceased (I'll take your word for it Will), it seems like their hardware is still being produced and I considered offering a Canadian distributorship for them. Problem is that I can't simply distribute MK hardware, there simply just isn't enough of a market. Still, getting their hardware anywhere in North America is difficult at best (Central only carries some select items). I don't know why they didn't do more business here...

You can still get the Silent 90ST and Top Star SE kits from MK. Replacement canopies and cowlings for most old kits too. Not sure about belly pans as they are not currently listed. You can also get their retracts and parts for them. Their latest product listing is dated a couple of years ago but is many, many pages long. We are importing and have MK hardware in stock now and will add more later with the plan to stock some "classic" items like retracts etc. MK is still very much in business.

Just google 'F3a unlimited'. Chris has a very nice web site.
Considering the number of different kits MK produced just in the past 10 years, 2 kits, for all practical purposes, is VERY limited production. And are those kits actually still in production or just leftover stock? I had heard that MK would be moving into the ARF arena... any truth to that rumor?
