Can Someone tell me anything about the GreatPlanes 88 in Cap 21... circa 1990's.. fiberglass fuse with a foam wing.. Is it worth building or is going to snap it self to earth with a G38 in the nose.
Thanks for any info

Hi,
I had one in the late 90's that I flew quite a bit. I don't recall what it weighed, but it was heavy. It flew all right for its weight. It was very easy to snap roll and did tumbles more easily t han any plane that I ever flew. It landed easily and did not try to snap on landing.I would try to keep it as light as possisble. Mine had f/g cloth and epoxy resin finished wings and tail tail feathers. I had a Brison 3.2 in mine and it was not overpowered. I am not sure that the g38 is enough engine for it.

Fazer.
I believe what you have is a CAP 20L, but I may be wrong. I think GP only kitted the .40 and 1.2 sized Cap 21 and neither of them was done in fiberglass. The CAP 20L was in glass/foam.
All of the CAP aircraft are pilot's aircraft and have to be flown as such. You must be mindful of airspeed/attitude or it will indeed snap out of the sky and bite you.
Weight and CG are critical to all of these planes.
They are excellent aerobatic airplanes but if you don't fly them 100% of the time, they don't last very long.
Good luck with yours...and if you don't want to... I'll trade you one of my kits for it.
take care,
