Rev Up Propellers

Hello Gentlemen,
I was th the LHS last week looking for some different props to try on my recently acquired Dalotel. The hobby shop owner opened his prop drawer and pulled out four Rev Up propellers and told me to give these a try. He handed me a 11x7, 11x7-1/4, 11x7-1/2 & a 11x7-3/4. Two of the props are Pro Series 3's and two are Pro Series 4's but right now I cannot remember which is which. The shop owner also said these were very popular props with pattern flyers back in the day. Since I have not been in the hobby that long, I am not familiar with them.
So, once again I am asking all of you pattern guru's to share a little knowledge with me. What can you guys tell me about Rev Up props?
Oh the best part is, I got them for the original price that was on the props. The most expensive one was under $3.00 !!!

When I first started flying pattern in the 70's and 80's Rev-Up was the prop
of choice for most of the pattern fliers I flew with. The engines just seemed
to spool up quicker with the Rev-Ups. I think I still have a box full of 11-7
and 11-7 1/2 Pro's stored away somewhere.

They were popular back in the day, especially the 11x7.75. Out of a box of 6 you might get three or four that could be balanced to be usable. Quality was all over the map. They were very inefficient, but were about the best that could be had at the time. Other than nostalgia, there is no reason to run them, as APCs are far more efficient with superior quality control. Don't even think about running a Rev Up without balancing it first.

Hey Dave, Jon is right. When i first flew my Phoenix 5 several years ago, I had a Rev Up on it and it was lacking to say the least. I put the APC on there, and and it was a HUGE difference. I was running an 11 7.5 Revup and went to 11x7 APC. It was WAY faster and and had much more authority on takeoff. Keep in mind that your Dalotel is a tail dragger and Rev Ups are fragile. You will need a prop on every nose over I bet. I broke one with my fingers way back when my old Supertigre .46 kicked on me. I was shocked that the prop broke and didnt hurt my fingers...well it hurt, but no damage.
They are very light and rev quickly, but at the same time your tune on the low end has to be perfect since there is almost no flywheel effect.

What can you guys tell me about Rev Up props?
Made by Progress Engineering, Dallas. This is one of their ads from 1964. THE prop to use in the 60's but there was not much else available.

I used Rev-up props when I couldn't get my hands on a Y&O prop (Yates and Orwick) tops in U-control pattern but great on my Merco 61 and my Kwik Fli 2.
