50" wingspan, 48" fuse, fabric and dope. I posted this in Q&A, and was told to ask here.

Surely someone knows.... forgot to add, it's a tricycle gear setup. It has never been flown, or finished, for that matter. The gentleman that built it passed away a number of years ago, and it has been in storage for quite some time. I'm planning on finishing it. He also built a Pica Dualist, with nearly the same color scheme. I consider myself fortunate to have both of them.

Certainly not ringing any bells here. Rudder looks like a Patricia or a Saturn, but the plane appears to be 40 sized. Wing Mfg'g made that canopy, so maybe it is not a straight kit?

It looks like a Patricia rudder on a Tiger Tail.... definetely not a scaled down Patricia...

The canopy is a Sig canopy that was/is sold for .40 to .60 size models. My friend, Jim Emmons, used one on the Kaos .40 kit that I framed up and gave to him, and several others, in the early 80's. I didn't care for the look, but the darned canopy permitted his Kaos .40 to knife-edge, while mine wouldn't knife-edge worth a hoot with the stock canopy.

Not too many forty sized models had wooden wings with swept leading edges and straight trailing edges other than the Bridi Dirty Birdy .40. My guess is that it is a trimmed down (rudder/vertical stab) Dirty Birdy .40 or a Sig thirty something sized model that resembled the Kougar. Just a guess.

I was thinking the same thing Ed...a modified Dirty Birdy .40, but I think that canopy was made by Wing mfg.? (I had a canopy like that on a Super Kaos .60 )

The rear end of the fuse looks too tall/deep for a DB 40. The span is less (58" for DB40) too. Of course, a bashed/modded kit can take on its own identity.

It could be the Dirty Birdy. I have a box full of plans that I got with all the other rc "stuff", and there are plans for the Dirty birdy. I've got 10 more planes that I haven't identified yet. None of them has been covered, and they all are in different stages of completion. I'm hoping to match the planes with the plans that I've got. The names on the plans are Quick-Fli III, Fierce Arrow 400, Bootlegger, Tiger Tail III, Tom Kitty MK40, Triton, Dirty Birdy, Pantera, Contender, Mustang-x, Thunder Panzer, Cosmos 40, and Sterling Tri-Pacer.

Man, that's quite a haul!

The barn door ailerons is a feature that might help the identification. DB's - and every other Bridi design I can think of - have strip ailerons.

You are correct Proptop. The canopy was made by Wing. Thanks. Now that I've looked at it for a while, it could also be a bashed Sig Kougar. That would make the wing's dimension closer to the stock Kougar wing span.

My Bridi Deception had ailerons that looked just like the ones used on this model's wings. They were modified strip ailerons that used very long torque rods originally.

Are the Bootlegger plans for a wood built plane? If so.... I would like to get a copy by what ever means it may take. If it is for a glass version, and you have the fuse, the fuse is blue in color.

The bootlegger plans are for a fiberglass fuse, and I don't have any fiberglass fuses....but, strangely enough, I believe I may have the bootlegger fuse in wood. I'll check today, and get back to you.

Sorry, no bootlegger fuse, wood or fiberglass. I do have what could be a Bootlegger wing, though http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_87...tm.htm#8745972

Scott,
The Fierce Arrow 400 is a delta winged C/L Stunt model. I'd love to see one as an R/C model.
