Default Name The Plane....

I found someone selling this plane and was wondering if anyone can identify it.
The seller gave the name. I have never seen one before...

I really don't know. I found it on craigslist, the ad that is. I emailed the owner, no reply yet. They did list the name, I'm waiting to see if anyone knows it. Quite different though.

Look at the bottm of the fuse. Very "boxy" and would be an easier build than the round fuses, I hate sanding..... Would be a nice stratch build. What do you guys think of the fin/rudder?
The mid wing and tail dragger makes me think mid 90s era?? I don't know though, I got out of R/C completly in the early 90s. If this was Ever kitted I know someone here will know about it. still waiting for an email from the owner.
At first glance I really didn't care much about it, to tell the truth. But it' kind of growing on me. I personally dont care for the canopy outline, but thats just my opinion.

Thats an OS 91 in it.. So, 60 size maybe?

BTW: Owner is selling it and says it is "new never flown"

Interesting bird David.

It strikes me as though it needs some retracts and a canopy outline repaint job. It looks like a DC3 painted like that.

Otherwise it looks impeccable.

Good luck! David.

That would be a Phantom built by Jim Rogers for SPA flying. Jim is an excellent builder, everything I have seen of his has been first rate.

As noted above, that is a Phantom. It was published in the November 1973 issue of RCM. More details can be found in the March/April 2004 SPA Newsletter available at www.seniorpattern.com. Go to the "downloads" link and then to "newsletters".

I knew you guy would get it!! It is a Phantom. I have never seen or heard about one before, and like I said, it's really growing on me. I was completely wrong about the time frame. Jim must have been a bit ahead of his time for the mid wing platform? or there are probably more like this from that period I haven't seen yet.
The OS 91 was also modified by a Bill Collins.
The plane is located in Ga. It seems like there has been, and is, a lot of interest in classic pattern out there.

From the pictures, the plane does look like it was built very well. I really like engine cut out. Nice and clean.

Jim is the seller of this particular bird. I did get a response back this morning stating that the history is quite long. He suggest that I email my phone number and we'll talk about it. Cant wait.

Is there Any plane that you guys haven't heard of?

It was kind of hard to make that one (Phantom) out. Check this photo.

That is really nice.
OK, I really want to build one of these sometime.

I see the SPA on the side. Do you compete with this one Ron?

One of the SPA guys did that one. Here's two more photos. Check out this thread and the SPA site.

Thanks Ron. It looks like you knew all about this plane right from the git-go!
Great to bring a old design back up front.

Does anyone have one that they are flying??

Hey Aurora 60,

When was thew last time you saw a plane that someone in this forum didn't know something about???[X(][X(].

I've only been visiting this forum for a few years now and if I've learned anything, it's the fact that if you want to know anything about any pattern plane, someone on in this forum will be more than willing to help you out.

It is kind of cool to be able to just swap messages with guys who actually created pattern. Sooo Cool.

Funny you should ask that. Last night.
Pd1 posted a plane. Turns out to be a Phoenix. Mike McConville got that one.
I did get the credit for the car next to it though!!

I'm still waiting for a call from Jim Rogers. I think its him at least. He would definately know of any other versions and what the differences were between them. I'll be sure to let you know.
