Default Help!!! Need Instruction On Making a Mold???

I am looking to make a mold from a fiberglass fuse that is arriving later next week. I have never attempted this and want to know where to start or what products and techniques to research.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Patternflyer76,

Look at some of the early videos from this guy, Bob in Oklahoma. He's building a 14ft long B1 bomber and makes all his own plugs and molds. These aren't step-by-step videos, but there is enough information for you to make your own plugs and molds. Start at the beginning. He's done over 100 videos documenting the building process. He is an expert in making fiberglass parts and planes. It's riveting. Best of all, its FREE!!!!

If you have any questions please feel free to hollar!!

There are allot of ways "to get there" and there is allot of info out there for review...Some of the links provided above are fine examples...You may also try searching the "Composites Forum" where this question has been asked several times and there are some good threads on mold making...

My main piece of advice would be to learn what you can and do what makes sense to you...

Here is a link to my thread on the Atlanta if that is any help...

Good Luck with your project!!

The best place to start is in the aircraft/composites forum. Read from beginning to end then again. Many have different preferences for technique and materials. So, the next step is to get some items to try and perfect what's most comfortable to you. Get a few good practice molds working well before you attempt it on a valuable part. Good Luck.
