the wiring on the kraft retracts was simpler than i thought. the 4 wire attaches to the wing retracts, the nose gear as marked, the pwr wire attached to the 2nd battery that was originally in the plane and the rx aux wire must connect to the receiver. so rework the power wire and the receiver wire to modern connections i think.

wanting to fly something i decided to keep poking along on the P-8. until i can figure out how to wire the Kraft amplifier to a modern receiver i decided to just put the retracts down. waiting on a cg from robm12 and i need to decide on the flying stab throws. any thoughts on that?
i started the YS .60 with an 11-7 prop, holy smokes that thing howls. i have never ran anything like that. insane power and rpm's.
i should weigh the plane while i'm at it.

This thread bring back a lot of great memories for me. I flew a p-8 in 79-80 and can confirm the nose retract vibration issue. I went through 2 Rom-Air nose wheel retracts with the plane. Never used the Kraft retracts just the radios. Mine had the OS60FSR and a perry pump and carb and of course a pipe. Still have the OS60 and the pipes.

if they give me trouble i will switch to spring air retracts. this plane would require removal of the kraft nose gear box and adding a firewall mount nose gear.

David,
make sure you have the nose gear mounted in the box with foam padding in between. Regular single sided foam tape works well. It can't be too thick or else the unit won't fit.
