Default Tiger Skins

What are Tiger Skins, other than wing skins? Me and a old pattern flyer were discussing these the other day. What exactly were they made of? Heavy? light, strong, ding resistant?

Fuzzy recollection: they were similar to 1/64 inch thick plywood.

thanks for the info. The gatorhide wings were some sort of resin infused paper right?

Yep, Sig sells it. They call it Rhino-Hide, but it's essentially what you're talking about.

Hmmm....as I recall, Southern RC's "Gatorhide" was 1/16" balsa with a resin-impregnated cloth on one side. That allowed it to go around curves very smoothly...like the leading edge of a foam wing (resin side out). I remember the original Southern RC Tiger Tail and Sweetater both having kits with the wing pre-covered in Gatorhide. It was very tough stuff, and made for a very strong wing.

Tiger Skin's? New one for me. One of the glass and foam kit's I have here, another Skyglas Vertigo II, has the veneer sheet's with it, and still look like new. I have never used this stuff, but from talking to the guy's on here
"in the know", they tell me to use them.

I don't know if they came with the kit, or added later. They pass the "Smell Test", old and musty. The Rhion-Hide looks interesting, has anyone used it on foam core's?
