ORIGINAL: RFJ

But what about MAN 1974? Anyone?

Just a small correction. The Yoshioka/Blue Angel article is from AAM (American Aircraft Modeler) not MAN (Model Airplane News) - October 1974 issue.

Ray
A little confusion here. My query regarding MAN 1974 was in reference to Hanno's Super Sicroly which, according to the Eureka page for the kit, contained the publication of Hanno's plans and presumably article.

Ray, does your collection contain such an article that year?

The BA articles have been well documented elsewhere in a few threads if I recall correctly.

Bo, Ray,

thanks for your replies fellas. I guess in this case, I was the one who was a little hasty. Bo, I thank you for your offer to send me the plans and articles but on revision, you already have. You must have sent them to me after I made that post above. I should have checked before making that post. Ray, thanks for sending the article as well.

Bo, there's a single promotional sheet (could it be a magazine ad?) that you sent me with info on two SS MK kits - the SS60 and a SS40. I know you have an SS60 kit and was wondering if the ad (or is it the full article - see photos below) came in that kit written in German or whether it is actually out of a magazine. I hadn't quite connected that MK had put a SS40 kit together as well. As far as rare MK kits go, the SS40 must be close to the top not to mention the SS60.

I'll post some pics of the two models here for everyone to enjoy. I pulled them from the page itself. Did a little colour correction on them for better readability and viewing.

David.

P.S. Your documentation is excellent as always - thanks.

David,

The German page you write about is from Simprop catalog 1975 (front cover below). It is many other great kits with photos of the planes described in that cataloglike Fuji, Skymaster, Blue Angel, Super Star - all 60 seize pattern planes from the past.
Texton that page where Super Sicroly II (it is MK kits) is described is translated by mebelow from German to English.
The Super Sicroly 40 is probably as rare as the 60 (both MK kits). I searched for yeers before I found my MK Super Sicroly II (60) kit (in Germany).

/Bo

A built in retractable landing gear is prepared for, it is not included in the kit. All small accessoried -except wheels- is packed in the kit. Onlydrawing can not be delivered.

Ah... Bo, now there's a catalog that would be great to see. How many pages?

I came across a Kraft 1980 catalog that I plan to scan for fun... all the details of their radios and even other stuff back at that time. But that's another topic.

Hi Bo,
Thanks for the scans! All models are very interesting, but the Skymaster especially since MK subsequently kitted a different version (or entirely different model) of the Skymaster with an inverted engine and pipe location on top of the fuselage (like the Magic). I'd guess that the kit that the brochure was in was produced no later than 1975. None of those models were ever imported in the US (as far as I know).
Do you have a kit of the Skymaster pictured? Just curious as to who designed it.
Regards,
Will
PS what are the dimensions for the Skymaster? I can't quite read the brochure numbers.

Hello flywilly,

For this .60 size Skymaster the given measures are :

Wingspan: 1580 mm
Length: 1360 mm
Surface: 44 dm²
Weight: 3,5 Kg
I guess 15 to 12 % stands for the wing profile thickness going from 15 % MAC at root to 12% at wing tip.

Greetings,
AL

I just purchased a Kato Astro 40 plane kit at a yard sale. What years were these kits made. The box is rough but everything inside looks good. The plans are mostly in Japanese. Was there any all English plans and if so does anybody have any they could post? The build looks pretty strait foreword but it would be nice to be able to read the plan. Anybody have experience with this plane?

Did they also have a kit the "Jetstar" I have an old flyer somewhere that had it on it. Side mount engine, and pipe if I recall. I think it was a .45 size. I will have to try to find that flyer!

To CapitainBlueSky

Beste,

ik lees op dit forum dat u een kenner bent van MK-airmodels.

Ik heb een ruwbouw Juka 87 D5 gekocht en ben nog op zoek naar de bouwconstructies. Heeft u dit soms in uw bezit?

Groeten,

Kris Van der Biest
