It depends on the rulebook year chosen. I believe prior to 1996 or 1997, only 2-stroke 0.61 engines and electrics were allowed.
At this moment I am still reviewing and trying to decide which rule book year to use.
You'll be safe on planning to use a 2-stroke 60 size engine.
Hope to see you at the contest.

I don't think the engine / motor police will be there ?????? It is all about flyig the classic planes and having fun...... it is still the person on the sticks... Maybe Orlando will shed some more light.

I don't think anyone will be checking for motor displacement, at least I won't. As Scott said, this is a Fun Type event.
No one will be turned away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More later.
Right now I'm getting ready to go to Puerto Rico for 2 months. I have a Tower Kaos there which I fly in spare time.

However, I will keep intouch and I will have my laptop with me.

OK guys, I just got word from Dick Tonan, Contest Coordinator for AMA District V the sanction for the Tangerine Pattern Contest has been approved.
I made a small change to the original; in the Classic Pattern event. we will fly Novice, Sportsman , Advanced and Masters. Engine displacement will be as follows, 4 strokes up to 0.91 CI. 2 strokes up to 1.20 CI displacement. This should accomodate just about everyone. But remember we will not turn anyone away. This event is about having fun.

In addition, we will fly AMA 401 thru 404 and 406. A deviation in the Sportsman category is a I believe a 13 lb weight limit. ONLY in Sportsman AMA 401.
The plan is to fly as many rounds as possible. If the Masters class inAMA is large, I will elect to split the line and fly two masters line at the same time. We have done this before and it worked well.
If all goes well, we could get as many as 8 rounds on the weekend.

The Classic Pattern schedules I will post later in this thread. They will be the same as the Ballistic Pattern schedules.
So mark your calendars, November 19, 20, 21 2010.
The field will be open for practice during the week up thru Thursday NOV 18, 2010.
I am working on a Flyer and will post it later.

Chuck,

The address for the field is 203 W. Keene Road, Apopka, FL, 32703. Check out either MapQuest or Google Maps for directions/trip planning. I attended the 2008 Tangerine contest and it was a great event. This time, I'm hoping to try classic patttern. Hopefully, my Phoenix 7 will be ready.

If I recall correctly, camping is allowed at the field. No hook-ups are available. You will have to contend with the NOSE-y neighbor to the west. That place is a real Cornucopia of Olfactory Delights! As for me, Eau d' Landfill isn't my cup of tea. I'm staying at the La Quinta in Lake Mary. Rooms are only $40 per night ($44 with taxes) through Orbitz.

I am really looking forward to this contest.

Thanks Orlando! Great news. Planning on it!

Hi Mark,
Yes I am. Will go to Punta Gorda to finish my Intruder in September and October. I have an "elf" there, my dad's flying partner.

The field isn't all that far from Kermit's place either.

Thanks soooo much for the info!! Exactly what I was looking for!! I have lots of Marriott rewards points built up and wanted to find the closest hotel to the field and needed the address. Your "insight" has me thinking I may go ahead and book a room rather than camp...

I have to plan all this stuff out cause I'm on a shoe string budget and down to my last string!!

Thanks a lot Scott and Victor!! (still tasting those Ribs!!)

Victor I sent you a P.M.

I'm looking forward to this contest too!!

Well here we go again. More information on the Tangerine Pattern contest for November 2010.
The flier and pre-regisytration form are listed on the CPA website.
You can also go to the RCACF website and downloaad the pre-registration form and e-mail it to me as listed on the form.

I have included a brief write-up and the pre-registration form. Pre=registration will save you $5.00 per event.
Please pre=register as this will help in setting up the computer ahead of time and also help towards the puchasing of foodstuff for the contest.

RCACF has a 700 foot runway running N-S, temperatures in middle to late November are pleasant. That is not very cold nor hot. Most likeley need is a sweater or a light jacket. Although it has been known to get cold (that is for us Florida guys). Convenience stores are nearby in addition to restaurants and motels.
Overnight camping is permitted, however, no hook-ups are availab.
There is electricity for charging.
So mark your calandars and use the pre-registration form attached below.

Thanks

Orlando,

Sounds like a great event that you have planned. I'd love to support it, but I'll be in Chicago on business that weekend. Best of luck with the contest.
