found these two pics of a very nice build flown in Argentina nationals, chip hyde say the thing is a rocket. some pictures and details will be forthcoming

I don't think there were any electric powered pattern ships flying in the Seventies. It could be just me...
On the other hand, as a sport model for today's flying, it is very pretty. I just couldn't swallow the $2,000 battery bill.

Its probably swinging something bigger than an 11x7. You'd run into ground clearance issues with the standard tricycle setup. An inrunner motor would allow you to swing a small prop faster. It wouldn't be as efficient, but it would allow you to maintain the proper aesthetics.

Because I am just learning about these designs, I would have probably thought it was a neat model that looked like an older pattern ship rather than actually being a Phoenix!
The gear looks pretty good. Nice finish. Overall a very nice looking redo of an old design.
