Is Blue Jay the only way to go ? Built many built up model's, year's ago, plus a lot of glass and foam, and all the ARF's in between. There is some satisfaction in building up the framework, rib's, former's, etc. Any suggestion's appreciated. Tri-gear retract's, or tail dragger. OS 61SF for power.

Have you looked at Eureka Aircraft? Don has a nice selection of short kits.

For me scratch building is the most rewarding and satisfying! There are a lot of plans available online. [link=http://www.rcmplans.com/]RCM Plans[/link] is a great resource as well as MAN, Flying Models, Model Aviation, Eureka and others. If you like to cut wood, scratch building is the way to go!

Just my two cents!

I have to agree with Free bird about Eureka. Don was very amiable and has real short kits unlike some others that claim they offer a short kit and just give you the foam wing core and a canopy. I beleive he also uses a cnc machine which makes the parts glue better than laser cuts. I got two short kits from him, a Super Sicroly II $120 and Compensator $125.

If you want a short kit of the older Bridi Kaos Kits Lazer Works http://www.lazer-works.com/misc.htmlhas The Kaos, Super Kaos and Ultimate Kaos and offers a large selection of short kits popular back in the 70's and 80's. Also has all theLou Andrews kits Aeromaster, Trainermaster, etc and a large selection of RCM Mag shortkits.

I got a Midwest Das Little Stik short kit currently $51.29 and Super Kaos short kit currently $46.69 from them. I have to say as far as price they got everyone beat.

Regards

Thanks for pointing out Lazer Works, I forgot about them. I've got a couple of Eddie's offerings (Kaz Orion, Brooks Crusader) to someday build.

Crank,

Check out Ron Chidgey's website www.scratchbuilderwarehouse.com He has some great tools, a selection of plans, and short kits for his updated Tiger Tail 4.

Don't forget about Sig. They still have a few nice kits. You might also check what's available from Great Planes. Blue Jay certainly has some good ones. I'd like to build the Utter Kaos.

There is no satisfaction, only addiction.

Once you finish one, (if you dont' already have 6 on the go) you'll start on the next one as though it were another potato chip.

After a while, you start to realise you've sanded off your fingerprints, you have a permanent skin of alhpiatic somewhere on your person, and when you cough, a little balsa cloud appears.

Hooks - Yeah, well used. The wimmin were very amorous back then, just hid it more then today. Glad you and Flapsdown live close. The spec's I sent him, from a Skyglas P-6. It is P-6 #2 for me, doing a thread on it now, but the going is slow, lot of project's going on here at the ranch, enthusiasm lacking a little. Looking to build something out of wood. Easy for you guy's to hook up with these P-6's. I have a NIB P-7 kit here, very nice, excellent fuse.

I think that YS DZ 70S 4C could be a good powerplant for these birds.

Crankpin,

If you are looking for a Taurus try Jeff @ home and hobby solutions, Jeff has a kit called the Primus its a copy of the Taurus but has been updated, laser cut very nice kit and you can get as a partial kit or complete kit. I built the Quick Fly ( kwik Fli III) and was very impressed with it. The price is a lot better than the original Taurus.
