Jim Whitley's recommendation in rib cutting.
Daddy Rabbit
"The ribs for the taper wing can be made in one hour once you have the tip and the root rib finished in 1/4 inch plywood. The ribs can be sandwiched between the two finished in this mannor." - Jim Whitley Question: Would not the profile be off because the outboard side of the rib tip template is 1/4" wide? Does anyone use this technique today with success? Brian |
RE: Jim Whitley's recommendation in rib cutting.
Brian,
I've done this with 1/16" plywood and it wasn't too bad, but 1/4" would definitely change things quite a bit. With the 1/4" ply you would have to make the tip rib smaller to compensate or taper it. RG |
RE: Jim Whitley's recommendation in rib cutting.
I have seen it done it with 1/16" aluminum. I guess using 1/4" ply would work if it was tapered.
