The kit's beenavailable from www.bridiairplanes.com. Wait to pick it up at a LHS or discount from Tower Hobbies. I would like the up right mounted engine to keep to the original model.

Hey Guys,
I had one of these back in the mid 70's and it was a joy to build and fly. If I remember right, I think on the kit, the engine was on the side. I think I will pick one up, just to see if it fly like the one I had in the 70's!! I would love to see more classic plane come back as kits and ARF. Sonny aka jet22b |

Can't complain about the price. I whished they had not glued the hinges at factory. Now it starts to get many classic ARFs. The price isn't too far off from building it yourself. A balsa kit is $120.00 (bluejay's), add engine mount ($6.00), landing gear ($10.00), wheels ($12.00), hardware (horns and hinges) ($20.00) , spinner ($5.00), covering material ($60.00). Approx - $232.00 If you are flying fixed gear. It's all there. Jim</p> |

Funny to see GP go full circle like this.
They had some really good kits in the beginning, the DB included with Kaos, Super Kaos, Tipo, and Illusion. Good to see them finally produce a pattern plane. Late to the party is better than not being there at all. |

I prefer to build my own stuff too, but I hope this new Dirty Birdy does well if for no other reason than to bring more new people into the Classic Pattern fold! :)

Looks really nice....Love the Slim and trim....
Are they allowing 4-strokes in SP? They have been shown to groove as good or better than a 2 stroke and don't p-off the neighbors... |

Unlike the H9 P7, this rendering has a sheeted foam wing. Hopefully this means the main gear mounts will be stronger than the P7. Also, a nice touch is that full-size patterns are provided for mechanical retracts which use two servos, one for the mains and one for the nose gear, which is mounted on the servo tray with the rest of the servos. I was pleased to see the DB back..it is a sweet classic pattern and I agree bringing it back as a nitro is fine.I will be tempted to buy one. and it would be wonderful to see a few more old classics.someone mentioned the curare.or perhaps a tony benetti trouble maker.I never had the time years back or the funds to build the patterns but now I am older and retired and would love to have one or two classic patterns..
my favorite back then was the old J & J eyeball... |

Seems like pretty decent deal to me if it is put together worth a crap. It is not a perfect re-creation or clone(Barret-Jackson Auction speak), but you will know what it is when you see it. The real proof will be in how it flies.
You would think they would have the original Kaos or Super K .60 in ARF form before going through the expense of creating a glass and foam ARF.... |

Would have been better though if they had installed the engine upright instead of side mounted. Wonder how much effort it would take to rotate it on the ARF?

Well Gents,
I looked through the manual to see if it was possble to make the airplane electric. From what I can tell, it MAY be possible if you used mechanical retracts, but I doubt if it can be done with pneumatic retracts because the air tank is shown where the batteries would want to go. However, if someone figures out a way to make the plane electric, I for one would live to see how you do it. And for those of you who frown on electric classics, SHAME ON YOU.......[>:] David |

Like you, I have always found Art Schroeder's Eyeball to be an attractive looking pattern ship. Apparently, it was not all that competitive, but that never stopped me from liking it, or many others.
