HELP identify my plane PLEASE!

I have a pattern plane I have never seen before.
It has a 70 in. wingspan and a 65 in. fuse made of glass Has anyone got a clue as to what it is? |

It's a Dick Hanson Tiporare. The epitome of Classic Pattern.
Looks like the Hippo Tipo with the side indention for the pipe??? I think that is what it was called. You will have a firmer confirmation on that very soon! If so, it is rare and worth caring for. It is well sought after. Strange not to see anhedral in the tail. Lucky guy!!!! Brian |

Yes I did a little swappin with a guy down the street yesterday swapped a .40 size sportster and a balsa usa taube for it.
It came complete receiver ready. I am a huge fan of the Curare |

Not all Tipos had anhedral. In fact, Hanson removed anhedral from the designs as they evolved. The last called the Tipo Surpass is a square model with no anhedral and was designed for a 90 4-stroke with conventional gear. That's how far Dick took the evolution of the Tipo designs.

Now you've got me really excited. I have a Hanson Tipo 750 with anhedral stab that is just waiting for primer/paint/install. Trouble is, it's been that way since about 1989. I can't believe you found such a nice one on a trade. Enjoy! I really need to get inspired and finish mine.</p> |

Mines been like that since 1982! :) But I confess... I did paint it two summers ago (see avatar). Its only taken me two years to get the engine and radio back in. Or so I hope! :eek: David |

Please start a thread and post some pictures...pics are cool to look at even if it's naked at the moment. There is a contest in South Dallas next month at Golden Triangle. I am sooo happy there are still people interested in pattern flying which I feel is the only real goal to the R/C flying hobby.
I started 52 years ago and have seen all the flying styles that have come and gone. But to fly pattern at any level makes you a TRUE R/C pilot. Once accomplished it is so relaxing to take to the air. I still have my sky burners to bore holes in the sky but to be able to PLACE my plane where I want it to be (and not by accident) is a fast skill that is disappearing rapidly. PLEASE dont get me wrong, there is a place for ALL flyers but I like to be able to sit and talk about Cuban eights, Split S , Immelman turns and so on. Try bringing up those subjects at the field today and see how many people listen and understand the subject. We need to generate enthusiasm for the sport of pattern flying not just for the fact its pattern but for the ability to control your airplane. Let me know what you think about this I think it will be a great subject and lead to a lot of great tips on flying. Dont forget to include lots of pictures and personal stories on the subject vic |

Rick's cream and burgundy Tipo is nothing short of drop dead gorgeous ! ! ! I also have to agree with Falconwing, a Tipo isn't a Tipo without the anhedral stab. To me, it helps define the airplane..............................:D Take care, David |
