Enya .60X

I'm looking for a little help here. I recently purchased an Enya 60X for my Super Kaos. The ad stated that the engine was ringed. When the engine arrived, it was immediately obvious it was not ringed. My question, do I have an AAC engine? I can't recall if Enya made any ABC engines. If it is AAC, are there any special break in process I should follow?

AAC and ABC engines are broken in the same way. The short version is 1" less prop than your flying prop. At least 21% oil. Break the engine in at flight RPM and rich (hence the 1" less prop) . This is done on a test stand of course. After a tank of fuel, cycle it to near lean by pinching the pressure line to the tank. As the pressure drops the rpm will come up as it leans. About 10 seconds and a minute rich for 2 more tanks of fuel. Monitor exhaust oil for color and head temp closely during break in. If the engine is very tight at the top, warm the head with a heat gun to get it started. This is mandatory with any Dub Jett engine.

If you have any questions shoot me a PM.

Enya only made a ringed and AAC in the 60x series of engines. There were four versions. They like to run on 0 to 15% fuel. Are you running a tuned pipe? If so start with a 11x9 APC prop. It will turn in the 13k range.

Thanks guys, I wasn't positive that Enya only made AAC. I have run in many ABC engines and didn't know if there was anything different required or not. I am running a stock OS muffler and plan to start off with an APC 11x7 and 10% nitro 20% oil. If the muffler holds it back too much I will order up one of those blue Jett mufflers from Horizon. My goal is to have my 7lb Kaos doing vertical rolls out of sight.

I think that would be a good start with a stock muffler.

If you are using an OS powerbox muffler, pop the back off of it and take the baffle out. It will only get marginally louder and free up a fair amount of power.

Scott, I'm using a vintage FSR .61 muffler. I'm pretty sure those are empty. I will most likely get the Jett muffler anyway, it will go great with the color scheme. Just have to find time to get this thing running. Too many projects.

Enya .60 AAC Mk. IV w/ the Macs black pipe and adapter. A little bark but great improvement over a stock muffler.2172052[/IMG]

Got in 3 flights with it yesterday. For once I am having fun with the Kaos. I'm anxious to get some time on the engine and get full potential out of it.
