Recommend a Pattern ARF .46 to .61

Can someone recommend an ARF pattern flyer. It doesn't have to be the perfect pattern plane. In addition to the .46 and .61 I have an OS FS 70 4 stroke. Any plane for one of these engines will be ok. But I do not want something that is real fast.

I have average flying skills. For the past 2 seasons I have been flying a .46 Ultra Stick from Horizon and electric sailplanes.

It has to be an ARF because I just do not have the time to build a kit this winter. Next winter I will be retired and can build a pattern kit.

So can someone please recommend an ARF pattern starter.

Thank you. bob

At $99. the SPA approved Tower Kaos 40 ARF is hard to beat and will fly the “Classic Pattern” pretty well. With a 46 it flies like a low wing trainer.

Here’s a link to a list of “Classic Pattern” aircraft kits and ARFs http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3053513/tm.htm

Bob,

If you don't want something that flies fast, you probably don't want a classic pattern plane - they are commonly referred to as "ballistic pattern planes" for good reason. The modern F3A type planes would probably suit you a lot better. There's currently a thread in the generic pattern forum "Please suggest one of these for first pattern plane" that should give you some ideas.

Good luck!

Tim
