Is this an all balsa buildup ?

RE: Phoenix 6
I thought the Phoenix 6 and later were fiberglass fuse with foam wings. Although I would love to be wrong about that. I have seen a magazine plan for the Phoenix 5 that is all wood. Give me some time and I can tell you which one...

RE: Phoenix 6
It is likely a fiberglass fuse.
I have a Skyglass Phoenix 5 fuse, so you could get the 5 in glass also. Jeff |

Hey Turbo - Phoenix V and VI, glass and foam. I have the plans for the original, maybe same mag article you have, and not in blown up form. See these attached. A VI and an VIII.

RE: Phoenix 6
Wing Mfg. is going to kit the Phoenix V. Glass and foam. Don Lowe has flown the prototype, so it's a go.

RE: Phoenix 6
Crankpin, you are correct! The magazine is American Aircraft Modeler (July 1975) for the built all wood up version. I had to look it up to be sure. I hope Wing Mfg comes thru with several of the designs the got the molds to..

I have the Phoenix 7 that is glass, I assumed the 6 or 5 was built up but I don't know for sure. Hope it gets kitted, thanks for all the info

RE: Phoenix 6
Thanks for the info guys. I have the Phoenix 7 in glass, but I don't know about the 6 or 5, they may be glass also. A friend of mine had a Phoenix he bought from a shop (already built and flown) but never met the original owner. He was told it was a 6 but that might have been wrong. It had foam wings and fuse top, the rest of the fuse was wood. Hope the kit does come out, thanks again,

The AAM P5 plans show a foam wing and balsa fuse.

In fact, this would be a good candidate for my latest engine, an ST Bluehead that has both STS porting and PDP slits. I haven't run it yet, but it's supposed to be one of the stronger ones.

Where can I order the plans?
Thanks again, michajon |
